IMHO they are cool... But theres alot of people who think they arnt. Usually because they think they are slow old cars.. Give em a ride in a twin carbed stroker powered one and they soon change their mind lol... Any excuse to post this ;D

it doesn't matter what other people think... if you lived your life trying to please everyone you'd be very busy and not very successful Personally, i think they are VERY cool But its what you think, not your mates.. if you think you could live with one, then go and buy one.. little hint though, bag of cement on the front improves handling loads

Soon realised that a slam with some empi shocks. and a little bit of rake toward the front did the same trick and made it look miles better.... ;D Allthough i did manage to spin it on a roundabout after i fitted the cammed 1641 to it ;D ;D oops

They can do motorway speed no problem.
If your in doubt get a oil temp and pressure guage under the dash and itll be fine.
If your thinking of doing one up. Get the best one you can. If you think on the road ones are expensive youll hate your final bill after rebuilding one.
Btw cheap ones are still about. Just gotta keep an eye out in different places. And don't be afraid to knock a door of one that hasnt moved in a while.
I got my bug for £1000. Been off the road for years but was restored a couple before that and was rock solid.
And got a hightop bay for £500.
also had a 69 fastback for £400, a 70 fastback i swapped my monkeybike for, a superbug i got for free, and a convertible i got for £100. And my dads cost him £350 but we spent alot making it solid after that.
This is all pretty recent too. Not going back 15 years....

Also, to balance this thread, Evos and Imprezas are also awesome, just not in the same way.

God i wish i kept mine, had a 8k cal-look resto, then was left to rot in a field for 7 years. I got it home and got it running spot on, but the body/chassis had had it. I was gutted. The sound of an air-cooled dub is a hard one to beat

Here's mine. I think it's cool. You are correct sir, that is cool. This is my favourite build style for a bug, and yours ticks all the boxes.
