For a one hundred quid Potentially a project I've been wanting to do for years but finding the right car at the right price has been a big hurdle - It appears this one has been waiting for me (the tax disc is a big clue) - Taken off the road cos it needed new rings/pistons and driven into a garage this is the first time in a while that it's seen daylight although this picture shows it's probably seen a fai bit in the past What is it I hear you ask? this is a big clue Need another? Oh alright then last one Ticks most of the boxes (unfortunately it's a GS not a GS/E but on the other side of the coin it's a 4 spd stick shift rather than a slush box) All the pics here (it's not for the faint hearted) www.photobox.co.uk/album/3169413

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

You saying you've bought this one then BC? Well done! Plans for it? Nope not bought it yet due to the distance but got another ABS member who is local to it to check it out and take a few snaps The car is cheap - the divorce might not be.......... It has suffered over the years - how much is hard to tell from pictures...... If I buy it I need to seriously think what I want to do with it Ignoring the chassis and suspension resto required cos thats fairly simple Option A - Rebuilt the engine and keep the whole thing original except I think I'd have to put tripple Webbers on it!!!! Hit it with a large oak and drive it till the treads fall off Option B - Drop in a Monza GSE Engine and 5 speed box for a nice boost to bhp for pennies (have all bits already) - medium size drop for a best of both worlds ride and handling Option C - well you can guess that one and to be honest that might be a bit predicatable!!!

Yeah its a s good as done isn't it. good stuff can't wait! Nowhere near as good as done yet - distance is still a huge problem lets just say it's on the otherside of the country and isn't drivable - If I bought it and got it home I can't start it for at least 8mths probably be 12mths (two other cars to finish first) - Need somewhere to store it for that time

Just read the thread on ABS. For £100 I would do it. After all how often do they come up, and what are the chances of finding another one in a basically solid condition. Mind I am probably the wrong one to ask judging by the amount of projects I have and the fact I am still looking for more

I am 'one of those people' !!! Predictably, I think the car looks freaking great and that you have no option but to buy it. One of the coolest cars of the 70's those IMO.

i'm guessing this cars arent that common? Err in Europe they are quite common but UK got very few in RHD....... My big problem is the Monza project over ran the timelines and my Senator would have been finished by now so that would have left one car still to do another one ready waiting wouldn't have been to hard to justify....... Well doable just ;D

Been there, still trying to recover from it Well I have been there and I have recovered from it - had a major clearout late last year and got rid of 3 cars in 4 weeks (2 x Senators and 1 x Carlton CDX Estate all were projects that if I kept them would have been started in 2008!!!) 4 cars max is all I am allowed......... Oh well I can sell her Polo ;D that gets me to 4 again

I was joking before, but i do find these cool! propper 'oldskool' Sweeney style. hardly saw many in my lifetime, never considered buying one, but for £100 I'd be tempted specially if i was an Opel nut like you! In fact i'd be tempted anyway now, gotta be done, even if a mild resto for now. got a tow bar?

What on earth are you doing thinking it out before buying? Have you learnt nothing from this forum- buy first decide later to repair/get divorced/sell your soul. Tch, priorities man! If push came to shove I'm sure you could sell it for more than £100, and that's just to the people who've read this thread!
