Jesus, the car's only a tool to do a job at the end of the day.... And you get what you pay for.... Never thought i'd hear a petrol head say that Well, yeah, it sounds odd coming from me! ;D My point was just that, as a daily driver, loads of these "curse word cars" have done me well. The Vectra has to get my missus to work and back day in day out, there aren't many cars that'd do it with the same speed, comfort or economy, for the same price. The stodgy handling and bland looks we can live with! Don't worry, I appreciate this thread was only done as a laugh in the first place, I ain't getting all serious!

there are a few cars that i hate but would recommend as a daily driver, for someone other than myself, the corsa is one, but only with an 8v engine, the 3 cylinder cars are like driving a 4cylinder firing on 3, utter w*nk, i wouldnt trust all the electronic wibblepoo of the 16v.
i work on vectras and would only recomend them if they're cheap and have recently had a cambelt kit and rear suspension bushes/joints replaced. cam and crank sensors seem to fail randomly and too often.

yeah you can't knock em for carrying you a long way in comfort, they are pretty unbeatable for that I reckon, in fact i am gonna put my c0ck on the choppin block and say that I like 'em, only in 2.0 flavour though, 1.6 and 1.8 are dogsh! Actually never tried a 1.6 TBH.

cant say i'd agree on any of the vauxhall points - not tryin to pick a fight like, but apart from the mk1 cavalier being the only bearable design theyve done since the victor, all the engines are curse word, even the isuzu one, and thats with having a belmont, an astra 1.4 and 1.7td, and watching my best mate put a corsa 1.2 in a wall and a astra 1.6 in a wall (only to move to a berlingo van and put that in a tree lmao)(oh and his sister put a vectra in a hedge/wall) sorry just cannot stand vauxhalls! horrible inside and outside and underneath and everywhichroad! (ps my estelles and my fav all get 45-55mpg on even town driving, except the one with webber carb and k&n etc which got 40mpg. drove the fav from NI to mid england in 10 hours last month and never a twinge in my back, most comfortable seats ever produced! so theres no excuses for owning a vectra lolol

Actually to bring a point up about the Vectra, my mate has a feeble 1.6 old shape one (V reg I think) and I was surprised to find the dash cluster is either exactly, or nearly exactly the same as a Cavalier?
Or is it just my imagination.

:)I had a Zafira for 5 years as I have 5 kids and needed a safe reliable way of transporting them. Of course I realise now that I should have bought a ratty $hagged out old Transit minibus! ;D Anyway, tbh it was a good car,but I was quite relieved to get shot of it as it's sale funded some of my Skoda stuff and the damned thing bored me rigid anyway! ;D

naaah the vectra and cavalier dash are different.... from the very start the vectras had a really wide instrument binnacle with the multi-function thingie on the left, don't think any cavs had that at all (does temp/radio/clock, or fuel computer on posh ones)
i don't care much for:
erm.....
to be honest most of my 'hates' are down to the stereotypical driver, i was going to put Novas in but they weren't bad, served a purpose. i like new fords, i think new vauxhalls are much improved build and looks wise than the older ones, even FSO's don't get my rage up.
sorry!
oh, apart from the mk5 'scort. that's wibblepoo.

The worst offenders have been mentioned already for me (Corsa, Vectra, City Rover) , but i'm going to have to defend the metro (first ones, none of this rover 100/Mk3 Metro cack), I think they are great cars, as long as you don't try and compare them to a mini, which is no contest, is it. Theres a lot of potential there... MG Turbo version for the win tho.. Thought i'd also include this 2nd picture of 2 of the most unlikely cars to be racing together ever..

curse word is usually good for me, but I use the word curse word in it's truest form. For me I always think "curse word" when I see these. Godzuki X-90 Toyota Paseo Lancia Y10.....I try and like em, but I just can't! (I'd like to point out that I like the earlier Y10)

I've just sat here and read all six pages. All I see is a wishlist with about another 2000 odd motors missed off... I'd have 'em all, and have had a fair amount of them too. Okay, I drove a Montego once I wasn't particularly fond of, but apart from that I can't think of any car I hate and there's quite a few listed already which are damn fine motors. CRX? Legendary Daewoo Matiz? Total fun MX5? Re-inventing a genre anybody As for the 928... Damn, it's like calling your own mother a whore, you should be ashamed. Until I've driven every car ever made I couldn't possibly be able to compile a list, let alone hate one.

i had the misfortune to drive a landrover freelander diesel today, it ranks as one of the wost things i've ever driven. Luckily i didnt have to drive it far,, but i was losing the will to live for the short distance i did. utterly foul machine, no redeeming features at all.
the works sherpa/ldv pickup is another abismal thing
and the ford fusion, which i had as a courtesy car for a week. take a fiesta, add a gutless diesel engine, jack it up and screw up whatever handling it had. sorted. a pat on the back to ford there. vile

I'm not a fan of the Megane, but at least It's not an 'identikit' car. So many new cars look the same.... I don't mind the bmw mini but it really p155es me off that they call it a mini, when it should be called the maxi. I can't abide the ford ka.... a fiesta in a tarts frock... The new beetle should be the golf 'cowpat' and the Audi TT should be the 'cowpat' coupe. The smart should be re-named the 'tonka', and I cannot understand why anyone that doesn't live in a big city would want one. The one I really hate is the hummer. Does it justify it's price in any way at all (bearing in mind we don't live in the nevada dessert)?

My next door neighbour has one of those Fusions. It does 70mpg apparently. I cannot see any other redeeming feature, but he seems to like it.

I used to do some driving work for a Ford agent. My heart used to sink if I was handed the keys to a Fusion. I really can't see the point in them. That said, I suppose a multi-billion dollar company wouldn't produce a car if they didn't know they could sell them. Dull in every respect. They're not bad cars (there isn't really such a thing as a bad new car any more I don't think) but there's certainly such a thing as a dull car, and the Fusion has dullness in spades. I found most of the Ford range to be pretty un-engaging to drive. I had to thrash the tits off small-engined Fiestas to get them to shift at all, but the diesel ones are fairly pokey.
From my point of view, the cars that I dislike aren't particularly because they're poorly built / handle badly / have poor performance, it's just that they are totally devoid of soul. Most rubbish cars have character, and I like them because of it. A lot of my dislike comes from advertising - peddling mediocre, anonyboxes as some kind of ticket to an interesting life. I know that's what advertising is supposed to do, but most of the time I find that insulting.
However, one car that manages to be dull, of poor quality AND soulless is the 3 cyl Corsa. I'd rather get a 10 mile naked piggy-back off Geoff Capes.
