Sounds like a fixed asset identity tag, used by big companies to distinguish between their items of property.

i will pop back up the workshop later and take a pic of it and post it on here. It probably don't mean anything but its nice to find out the history of your project aint it. Especially with transformation this ones going through.

I'd like to bet that it was a shop vehicle or pool car for Rolls Royce Engineering or Rolls Royce Aerospace back in its first life. Thats their asset tag.

Don't know if still the case, but DVLA used to be able to tell you previous owners/history of your vehicle for something like a fiver.

I'm with the above - I've got a couple of mates at the big TCH Ford dealer in Derby and they put loads of cars into Rolls. I'd like to bet they were the original supplying dealer

Don't know if still the case, but DVLA used to be able to tell you previous owners/history of your vehicle for something like a fiver. They still can - I think the form is avaliable as a download from the DVLA site Basically you get copies of any changes in the log book from as far back as their records go..... Owners details and engine/colour changes
