those odd recesses in the boot lid (rear deck if you use the correct terminology) are in fact the first production car use of high level brake lights. in 1974 airbags (called impact protection pillows IIRC) were optional. Or maybe 1975. They were innovative cars back then. There is a huge list of "firsts" and novel features on these
