the actual golf is nice, but the wheels look odd in a bad way to me. odd can be good sometimes but these look a bit stupid. Of course all the "scene" people will come in now and say omg lolz it's awesome etc... but i still think that looks stupid

This is where I would normally associate that kind of style of BBS. I'm not a BBS anorak though.

I believe they're just a result of some interesting split rim combinations.

They are the normal type of BBS but have been mounted backwards (if you see what i mean). The two/three piece construction means that the lip should be on the outer edge and placed to create a dish. This has been mounted backwards.
I hope someone understands my insane ramblings?

If it wasn't for the polished rim, they'd pass for pound shop placca wheeltrims. I don't think they are particularly attractive TBH. As Akku pointed out... "different isn't always good.

Would work if they had a smaler diameter I think it appears odd, as there's only 'dishless wheel' filling the arches and no rubber. Unusual to look at... Ugly? I don't know. Interesting. Different. *trying to be positive ;D*

I kinda like it. It looks like these with the high offset lips, but built up from the back barrel, lip, centre, rather than centre barrel, lip. Though it might be a different sort of centre entirely - like those on the rs500. Edit: Check out the big pic, regular centres you can see the mounting face and rib for centering the rims. The bolt holes seem to have been counterbored so that the bolts sit flush. These guys www.felgenpoliererei-gescher.de/ seem to have built it - maybe some more info on there I've not waded through yet, Slide show www.felgenpoliererei-gescher.de/index.php?id=20

I'm not quite sure what's going on there, but the valve cut-out would suggest that the lips are both meant to mount on the inside like they are now, and like they are on the RS500 if you look closely, the RS500 appears to have the locating ridge like bit on it too, despite the lips being mounted on the back.
They look like Porsche fitment (or another large PCD 5 stud anyway) if that makes any difference.
