The Landcrab's rally career was more a product of BL's PR department than their competition concern; the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally saw a couple of ex-press demo 1800s prepared for the event. They finished 29th and 32nd but hey, they took part.
Over the following years, full-house works cars were developed with Group 6-spec engines (twin SUs, 136bhp), going on to win the Danube Rally, although Safari events showed up the embarrassing weaknesses of the suspension. Still, three of them managed to complete the 1970 World Cup Rally, one of them in 9th place. Not bad.
