The 924 is a 1979 series 1 (the early car with rubber gear gaiter, 2 spoke wheel, exposed fuel cap, no crest on glovebox and chrome window surrounds) cross over to series 2 car (the later car had frenched in fuel filler, a variety of different steering wheels, leather gear gaiter on either integral knob or seperate, crested glovebox and black window surrounds as well as spark box electronic ignition). As such it's got an uncrested glovebox lock, frenched in fuel filler, leather gear gaiter, chrome window surrounds (albeit painted black at factory) and electronic ignition. I do however have a full early interior dress up kit of the 2 spoke wheel, rubber gear gaiter, seperate knob and Porsche stamped door cards (V.Rare).
It's a very nice car, UK spec so LUX spec with electric windows, sunroof, electric mirrors and alloys. Full matching set of wheels including spare and a second spare. All with matched tyres with good tread. Still has it's original centre caps and even the plastic bolt covers.
It is very rare in that it has a black leather interior, it's the only 2.0 I've ever come across with a factory leather interior. The seats are excellent, no tears or damage, slight fading of dye on drivers bolster but no damage at all.
The white paintwork isn't perfect, but it's very good, I'm just doing a few little jobs on it to get it ready to sell. It's a very presentable little car.
It runs as sweet as a nut, no rot, new suspension, well maintained, just been serviced, new cambelt and tensioner and aux belt, new plugs, new cap and rotor arm. Oh and new battery.
No issues, has bookpack and 2 sets of keys, 6 previous owners, MOT till later on in the year (Sept I think), new windscreen going in in the next week or so due to a crack down the edge, including a full new set of the clips which hold the trims in place (16 of these at over a fiver a pop).
It's a great car and has the potential to be a good investment, it runs well, sounds nice (has a stainless exhaust but isn't loud it sounds standard), handles very well (uprated Koni suspension front and rear but not lowered so handles properly). Getting rare to find a good one and they are starting to find their feet value wise.
MX5s I have 3 of, all MK2 1.8, one cheap and cheerful silver, one full restoration I haven't finished yet in red (going to be as close to a new MK2 as practical) and the pick of the bunch in my opinion is a black MK2 1.8IS so LSD and all the toys, mint interior, mohair hood, very tidy bodywork, no rot (genuinely no rot, not a good condition for age and you look at it and the back arches are rotten, genuinely not a rotten car.) just had the sills done and the front chassis rails done. This is a solid car. Engine has been lightly breathed on, silicone hoses and new rad fitted 3k ago along with new cambelt, waterpump, tensioners, aux belts, clutch, plugs, brakes front and rear. 12 months MOT.
Let me know what you think and we can have a natter (PM me might be easier if your genuinely interested).
Just incase you are interested I also have a 1966 3 synchro BGT which has the potential to be a special car but I've fallen out of love with it a bit.
