Thanks berendd, I will check with Palletline.
My problem is to get the items collected before shipping to Norway. Having them shipped seperatly makes it all very expensive due to custom fees here in Norway.

Who would be best to speak to regarding picking up an engine and a gearbox at two different places and then shipping it to Norway?
Engine is in sheffield, South Yorkshire and gearbox is in Newry.
Need it all shipped to Trondheim, Norway

Probable reason for using the Laguna body is that it has low Cd-value of 0.30. A value that even new aerodynamic electric cars of today only barely acheive.

Could you retrim a pair of Lotus Elise seats to look more retro? Something like GT40 seats would be really nice.

Now you point it out, I see the difference (and can't blame whoever converted yours, as it probably saved a lot of work) Are you tempted to modify it? Cheers Matt I might try to reposition the engine lower in the chassis, but will need to sort other things first. I had the paint scanned yesterday and it comes back as Toyota black with a green tint.

The old Dame is probably the reason my car got converted. It is also better engineered than mine with the engine sitting further down into the frame. I've spoken to the seller and I am hoping the car is sold to someone who keeps the Daimler engine in it as it is truly TVR history.

Finally sun has been out and I have been able to snap a few pictures of my new pride and joy. Some of you might have seen my previous project a Zetec powered MGB GT that ended in tears when the building that it was stored in during my 10 year restoration went up in flames due to reckless welding gone wrong. www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=127484&highlight=sonus+mgbThe MGB was nearing completion and I had high hopes and plenty of mojo to get it on the road this or next year. I was on the final stretch when the car was turned into a heap of scrap metal in under 10minutes. So to get through the rather hard times I started looking for a replacement to the MGB. I remembered an advertisement for a TVR Vixen that had been on finn.no which is Norway’s largest used car market. It was advertised as being a TVR Vixen Prototype. I googled the site and found the ad that had lapsed two years ago, but luckily the seller hadn’t deleted the ad. The ad came up as “passiv” meaning it wouldn’t show if you used the site search engine, but by performing a site search (site:finn.no) I was able to find the ad. To get time to pass I sent the seller a message expecting the car to have been sold. A week passed and I was still thinking of what the MGB would have been when suddenly a response form the seller came. The car was not for sale by him no more as his son had received it as premature inheritance from the seller. But he also wrote that the car might be for sale by the son. My heart rate rose and I punched the given phone number. I told him I had gotten his number from his father and wondered if he still had the TVR and if he’d consider selling? My heart rate jumped another time as a positive response came. At that moment I was sold, hook line and sinker! The next few weeks I completely forgot about the mangled wreck of an MGB. I spent days and nights thinking of what it might be like to own a TVR. Since the car was located some 350 miles from my home I had my dad go see the car. Only fitting as it is my dad that is the cause of my car related obsession. The viewing was at the 12:00 am. 12:15 passed, 12:16 passed, 12:29 passed and then finally at 12:31 my dad rang. The car was good! Having had a light restoration at David Gerald TVR-specialist in the early 2000s and used very sparingly after that. 12:32 By by dad, “Hello seller?” “Yes?” “I’ll have it”. Ohhh… what have I done? I just purchased a car I have never seen in real life, a model I have never seen in real life. A car I know next to nothing about! But I just had to have it! 14:23 I attached my trailer and headed 350 miles south. Early Sunday morning at 10:00am far into the woods in south eastern Norway I saw the car for the first time; Covered with dust after being used very very sparingly for the last 3 years. Car started with the first push of the button, idled as smooth as anything have a right to do. But provoke the throttle and it emitted a combination of thunder and hell. The car had it’s nickname – “Little Thunder”. TVR Vixens were usually fitted with either MGB 1800cc or Ford Kent 1600cc, surely not something that would emit thunder and hell? So what makes this TVR so loud, so mesmerizing? Well under the hood is one of Edward Turners gems; a 2500cc V8 with hemi heads usually found in either the Daimler Dart/SP250 or the Jaguar 250 V8. Omit almost all silencers and the sound is in my mind truly epic. I always find myself down shifting in tunnels, backing off and then going for the self-imposed red line at 6000rpm. According to people in the know the engine is capable of a lot more rpm with a few tweaks that I might perform in the future. The car is by no means perfect. I’ve had to replace the starter solenoid, coil, spark plug leads, spark plugs and door handles. It needs new spline hubs and knock-off wheels, but I might convert to bolt on as the splines might not be up to the plans of tuning the engine in the future. There are also a lot more options for bolt on wheels. I’ll update as I go, but now I need to go and have blast through some of the local tunnels – see you all later

I looking for a Daimler 2.5 V8 as a spare/to be modified for my TVR Vixen.
Seller needs to be willing to ship to Norway or cooperate to have it picked on pallet/half pallet.
Saloon or Dart/SP250 engine. Preferably as complete as possible.
Known history preferred.

Good thing I asked, because I thought a bolt was a screw and a screw a wooden screw. I learn something every day Will look into all suggestions and more are welcome.

Where can I buy large quantities of UNC nuts, bolts and screws from?
I've looked at Mgbhive's 650 pieces kit on Ebay, but would like an even larger batch with greater range.

Honestly, just tint them with flyeyes, laminex or just a dusting of matt black, the difference will be immense, they are already quite 'hard to spot' where they currently are, blending them in will make them disappear. Is that YOUR car or a google find? Lovely stuff! Yes that is my car. Pic was taken by prevoius owner and then used in the TVR Blog. Regarding the turn signals I might just try using the pilot lights. If it doesn't work I can always go back to small round ones as suggested by Porsche

That's what I'm afraid of, but with 55w main beam and a 21w amber pilot light I was hoping it might work. I'd really like to delete the front turn signal lights to clean up the front of the car.

My new car has some ugly large square turn signals mounted in the grill that I'd like to change for round ones. However I started searching and found Lucas 7" headlights with pilot light fittings and this got me wondering; Could I wire the pilot lights in the headlights for turn signals? That way I'd get an even cleaner look to my car as I could remove the turn signals in the grill all together Legal or not? Would they be visable when running the main beam on?

Thanks ChasR
It's only the diff that's e-type, driveshafts, wishbones, brakes and uprights are TVR.
I've had a good tug at the driveshafts and could not feel any slack. Neither in the prop was there any slack.

Hi, Rover SD1 propshafts are fitted with CV,s each end. However the gear box end flange has the usual asymmetric hole pattern while the axle end has a symmetrical pattern so two of the holes will need redrilling. Colin Thanks Colin I'lllook into if I can have one shortened.

Spoke to GKN in norway and they can make me a new propshaft with CV-joints that will cure my vibrations/problems. It'll be 40mm shorter than the one I've got now and supplied with two 20mm adapters from Jaguar flanges to CV-joint. Only for the princely sum of £700+VAT Any suggestions where I might source this in the UK?

Thanks guys I can probably "lift" the nose of the diff by lowering the rearmost mounts 8mm to bring the pinion closer to parallell to the gearbox output shaft. However there is no way in h*** I'll be able to move the engine to combat the sideways misalignment. There is approx 3mm clearance between the frame and exhaust manifolds.
The problem as I've understood it is the use of u-joints with their non linear rpm transfer through angles. So if I change to CV-joints the problem isn't masked but gone (?).
I'll see if GKN can make or suggest what to do today if I get the time.
