Thanks for the link MkX, interesting reading. I knew about the nikasil issue with early versions of the engine but this had been sorted out by the time this car was built. I didn't know about the timing chain tensioner issues and it looks like this engine will have the mk2 improved but still not good plastic tensioners so it would be worth while changing to the later metal type tensioner while the engine is out.
Six speed manual would be nice but budget would mean trying to use the original auto box.

I have been offered a 2002 Jaguar XJ8 3.2 Sport auto as a PX for my daily that I am selling. The Jag is not really my cup of tea and it has a short MOT and some rust issues starting so I was wondering if it was a viable doner car for a future hot rod project. Has anyone ever transplanted this engine and box into something old? Its mainly wiring and ECU's that I am talking about. Is it viable to get it running on the stock ECU or is it more grief than it's worth? All advice is welcome.

I’ll take this please. PM me with you payment details and I will get you paid. I will need it put on a pallet as I’m in Scotland so collection at the moment isn’t a viable option.

I have just measured a set of BMW e36 steels that I’ve got lying around. They look to be approximately 338mm with a tape measure maybe 340mm at a push. If they are any use to you you can have them if you cover the postage.

I know I am not alone. Many of my friends and work aquaintances are self employed and in similar circumstances. I am glad that I am not yet in a self isolation or lock down situation and I am following all the safety guidelines. My previous post may have seemed pesemistic but I am not saying I have got it worse than others I was just highlighting the senario that a possible classic car buyers have suddenly found them self in. I do think as mentioned earlier in this thread that there will be other people both self employed and employed that will find themselves in need of extra money to see them through and at times like these the toys have to go. Simple economics show that when supply of an item increases and demand drops then the price reduces.
On a positive note I am lucky enough to still be holding on to my E36 touring(daily) and Morris Minor traveller(very long term project) for the forseeable future and hopefully long term. I do still hope to get the odd few hours working on my project, it is stored 20 minutes away from home so hoping we avoid lockdown for as long as possible.
We all need to try our best to stay safe and if possible stay positive until we come out the otherside of this.

I am self employed as of tomorrow i will be a stay at home dad because the school my 5 year old daughter goes to has now closed and I have no child care of any kind available to me. My plumbing and home improvement business has seen its bookings for the next three months all postpone or cancel in the last five days. I have been actively looking for a new classic for the last few months, not now every penny is now a prisoner. I sold one of my existing cars on Friday for well below its value just to get some much needed funds in the bank. I will be applying for my £94 a week universal credit and hoping I can get through this without losing my house. I am just one buyer that is now out of the market, there will be many more just like me. So I am thinking that classic cars may well drop in value.

This is my old car! We owned it from 1978 to 2015 as stated in the advert. Although the ownership story seems to have mutated abit as time has passed. I got it off of my dad in 91 although I had to pay for it as he wasn't for giving it to me. I ran the beetle as my daily for about 3 or 4 years then it got a mild tidy up/resto and became a weekend toy for the next decade or so. I went through probably a couple of hundred cars over the years but the beetle always stayed when others came and went. I gave it a second tidy up and repaint over the winter of 2013/2014 and put it back on the road as it hadn't been used for a few years. Over the following year I hardy used it as life had changed with a growing family and we needed for a new bigger house so I made the decision to let this and a couple of my other classics go.
It was a huge decision to come to after all these years together but I could not give it the time it deserved and I didn't want it to just sit around for years againand deteriorate. It is good to see it again and in such fine form too! It has been loved once more since leaving me and although in good condition when it left me it really has been taken to another level by Stephen and he has added his own personal touches to the car to make it his own. This is a true unmolested gem of a beetle and who ever is lucky enough to be it's next owner will get a trully great car full of memories of our adventures togother. If that car could talk!!!
If the new owner wants to get in touch to hear more of the car's story please feel free to do so. The name Angus is new to the car since it left me and I believe it is because it spent it's whole life up here in Scotland. It was registered new in September 1960 in Glasgow and stayed there until it left me in 2015. It was lucky to survive our salty winters. The KGF guys have presented it very well as they do all their cars but if I could ask one thing, you have spelt my dad's name wrong in the advert. It is spelt McKechnie and not McKechney is it possible to have this changed please.
Good luck with the sale and I hope it finds another loving home.

I don’t usually reply on for sale thread unless I am really interested but this is a great looking car that I have always had soft spot for. I love the wrap around rear window treatment. This surely deserves a better advert. What’s the body condition, all four arches like to rot on these as well as the sills and front edge of the bonnet. What’s this one like? Any more pictures?

This is a set of five Austin A40 (Devon/Somerset) 16" steel wheels. As can be seen in the photo there are two wheels that have slightly different centres, an extra set of holes that are most probably for access to brake adjusters. These wheels are 3.5 inch wide as is the cream coloured one and the other two are 3 inch wide. These wheels are getting increasingly hard to get and are a popular choice with hot rodders as they will fit the popular Ford 4x108mm bolt pattern as well as there originally intended Austin vehicles. The wheels are in Paisley Scotland if you wish to view or collect. They are surprisingly heavy so a pallet may be a better idea for postage rather than a courior. A local courior has said that they will do the normal mainland UK address for £33.99 and it would be more for Highlands, Islands, etc. I have these wheels listed on Ebay too and have been asked if I would split the set and sell a pair of these wheels. I would be willing to do this if I had enough interest in the remaining single wheels or pairs. So if you require just one or two rims message me otherwise I would prefer to sell as a full set. I am looking for £129.99 for all five wheels but will always listen to sensible offers.

Bump and a final price drop on these. I feel like I am giving these away as they owe me an awful lot more than this but I have other stuff I need to buy.
If they don't sell at this price I will keep them for a future project.

If anyone is interested in these but the distance for collection is causing a problem or you what to save a few pounds then I may be able to help.
On the week begining the 21st January there is a good chance I will be traveling south on a bit of a whistle stop tour. The exact day has yet to be confirmed but I should be heading from Paisley down to Newcastle and then on to Doncaster. My return journey will be back over to the west coast with a stop at Thornton Cleveleys and then back home to Paisley. I am happy to deliver these wheels to a buyer free of charge if it is not to far off of my route.
The most likely route is going to be South on the M74 then across the A69 to Newcastle. Then down the A1 to Doncaster. The return journey will be across the M62 and back north on the M6.
