After promising the other half I'd finish the mg midget project (the only 'silly' car that I've owned she's ever liked), I fell on another abandoned kit going for silly money. I must say I like the way this has gone and will be going a similar sort of back to basics route, albeit probably not chug chug powered.
Looking forward to see how this progresses.

Also liking the flip front. Having just retrieved my Midget from the back of the sister in laws garage, this is such a timely reminder that I need to pull my finger out and do a thread!

Saw this advertised and was very nearly tempted myself as it looked very good value for money. Time will tell but hope it's the bargain it looked.

Yep, changing plugs is an absolute beast of a job. Lost count of the times you'd get something in for work and the the front two plugs hadn't been changed in years (They sit under the aircon pump and need an off-set plug socket to even get close). From memory the main dealers used to give a couple of hours for them to be changed, even with the correct tooling!

Been following this thread for a while and loving the ups and downs of using a classic, an Italian one at that, as a daily driver.
Have to agree that the white one looks absolutely bob-on but fully understand your reticence in making changes that would be very difficult to reverse on something so rare.

In all honesty not a deal! I've got something similar (But a dam sight cleaner) that's been sat at the back of my garage for ages and I'm struggling to give it away.

For all the knockers and naysayers (Including me if you look at my earlier post)
Having exchanged a few messages with Ben, I can only say what a genuine bloke he is. All of my earlier concerns were addressed in these conversations.
If you are looking for somewhere to work on your car in the Barnsley area and can give it enough time to warrant the outlay, you can't get a much better deal than this (24 hour access and an all in cost!)
Although I haven't seen the unit I have driven to the site where the unit is based and were it not for the distances involved I would have been all over this.
Good luck Ben and hope it all works out..........

I've been looked for something like this for a while as I only have a small garage and no room to extend.
Although it's a bit further away than ideal (I live close to Barnsley town centre), as you will no doubt be aware, shared garage space is a bit thin on the ground!
Just a couple of questions: - I'm a bit wary on the access front and how many keys would be in circulation? - I don't have any problem sharing tools with mates etc.. but the last thing I would want is to store my project there and to come in one day and my tools and car to have gone walkies! - Are the bills on top of the monthly price and if so how will they be divided? - Would I be subletting off you on a contract basis, or will it be a cash in hand on a monthly basis.
Cheers.....

I must have read the original sale thread a good few times as something about this really appealed, but ultimately knew I wouldn't be able to swing it with SWMBO.
Is the box now ok?

As brilliant as this is (and the fact I'm probably going to get shot down in flames here) I can't help but feel it would look better a little less nose down.
Either back down further - or dare I even say it - the front raised up a little!

CBR1000F - good strong engine. Yours is a later model so slightly better on the camchain front as well.
What's the back axle ratio on a Kitten?
The reason I ask is that CBR has one of the highest primary ratio gearboxes in any of the big bikes. Add 10" wheels into the equation and unless you are running an exceptionally low ratio back axle, you'll be hitting 76mph @ 10500 rpm (based on a 3.9 axle ratio and 145/70/10 tyre size)

Having a clearout of the garage and have decided (Probably fatally) to clear out the collection of manuals (Mostly Haynes) that I don't think I will be needing again.
Thought they may be of use to someone on here before they are put on ebay.
Haynes Onwers Workshop Manuals - Jaguar Saloons Mk 1 & 2 (inc 240 & 340) - 1955 to 69 - Honda MB, MBX, MT and MTX 50 - 1980 to 1986 - Mini 1969 to 84 - Peugeot 205 (Petrol) - 1983 to 93 - Saab 9-3 (Petrol and Diesel) - 1998 to 2002 - MG Midget and Sprite - 1958 to 1980
Haynes Service and Repair Manual - Vauxhall Cavalier - 1988 to 1995 - Ford Escort (Petrol) - 1980 to 1990 - Ford Fiesta mk1 - 1976 to 1983 - Honda Civic - 1991 to 1996
Intereurope Repair Manual - Triumph Spitfire Mk1 to 4 - 1961 to 1974
All manuals have been used to varying degrees so there may be a few oily marks, but no pages are missing or torn.
Also British Leyland Workshop Manual - MG Midget mk1 to 3 and Sprite Mk 2 to 4. In the proper green binder. Old and well used but the pukka item.
£4 each collected from Barnsley, South Yorkshire or £6 posted
Thanks........

Whist not being an expert on this matter, didn't the 3.6 xj-s models used to knock these boxes and/or clutches out every other week?
If so, will be interesting to see how one will get on with a much torquier lump?

What's the long term intention with this, replacement for the Benz, or permanent addition to the fleet?

Hi - I have a 1500 engine with all ancillaries. Recent exhaust and engine service. Shows good compression and runs great. Only for sale as I'm upgrading to a K series.
Drop me a message if you're interested, or require further info. N.B. based in South Yorkshire.
