No, no donut is required the prop slides directly into the back of the box. Presume you know hat you'll need a spigot bearing and shim for the back of the engine for the input shaft to be supported (and that the early K Series differed in that respect).

I went a similar route, V6 box and all Caterham components. People have supposedly done the change in a weekend, but I bet they were still revisiting it years later!
There are loads of little things to take account of to get it right, but having followed the All-agro build sure you'll be fine.
Has the gearbox had the tailshaft shortened to keep the gearstick in the same position as a standard Midget? - If doing it again I would go down this route.
I've got 100's of pictures so shout if you need anything in particular, but mine was a 1500 shell so a little different to yours.

Is your engine a BOA or BOB?
Just seen a very cheap BOA advertised locally with all ancillaries, wiring and ECU.

Always liked the thought of a pick-up, but up to now have never owned one.
I should have pulled the trigger on the Toyota that was advertised on here a few months ago with the BMW V8 fitted but just wasn't in the right position. Having now sold a long term project that's now changed!
Wanting 2wd, low and, for once, wouldn't mind something with a bit of character/patina. Toyota or Mazda B series are floating my boat, but seem very thin on the ground. Drop me a message if anyone has anything they might be wanting to part with.

I know this car had been through a couple of owners in it’s life and luckily never progressed too far. The first and main thing I found is that the old pedal set-up had been hacked out in favour of a generic bias pedal box. I removed the thin tin plate that had been pot riveted on and some thin wall box tube that had been welded in badly. There is no way it could’ve took the pressure of someone stamping on the brakes. Someone had also made a bit of a mess cutting through the bottom of the chassis. Off came the front wishbones and side panel to allow me to weld this and redundant rivet holes up. Leaving me with a blank canvass. I’ve just ordered in some 3mm plate and thick wall box section to make a slightly stronger mount. I don’t think there have been too many other ‘modifications’ made. There’s just a pile of parts to sort through that came with the car.

I actually started tearing it apart last night (not that there was much to start with), then my phone battery died. Safely stored: The main difference with the GTS is it uses a De Dion rear suspension set-up. It supposed to be a halfway house between a live axle and IRS.

As this will be the last 7 I build, I wanted something properly quick. I looked at a few engine choices from Jaguar v6, rover v8, Zetec turbo etc… In the end I settled on a Saab, B204 or 234. It a proven engine with loads of knowledge out there, but not common in kit cars. I managed to fall on a complete rwd package. I’ll need to revise the mounts and the sump to suit rwd isn’t the best, but it’s a good start. Currently running around 270hp but there’s plenty of scope to up this post IVA.

One door closes and another opens! I’ve owned a few kit cars in the past. Generally sh*tting in the shallow end, buying abandoned projects or cars that needed work. After finishing the last one I said I’d not do another until I could afford something decent like a Caterham or Westfield. But mainly something that didn’t need loads of work (I think you can see where this is going 🤣) Anyway, a couple of years ago something caught my eye at a decent price. With the ongoing Midget build I knew I couldn’t devote and real time to another project - so i bought it anyway and stashed it away…until now. It’s a GTS Wide. Quite a rare kit that was well designed and decent quality. However, it appeared the manufacturer had some very poor business practices, leading to the company closing. By it’s name it’s a bit bigger than the usual Locost builds, which suits me at 6’3” and 17 stone. But also helps with the engine bay being a little bigger, meaning a greater engine choice. The plan is circa 600kg and 3-350hp which should keep things interesting It’s still going to be a budget build as I just don’t want to plough £10-15k into something that’s only ever going to be a weekend toy. Collected a couple of years ago

Put the Midget up for sale at the weekend. Advertised Saturday evening and it was sold by 10:00 Sunday morning. Either I fell very lucky, or I undervalued it somewhat 😂. After owning it for 13 years I’m surprisingly not that bothered it has gone - gives me a few pennies in the bank to either get started on the kit car I’ve been sat on for two years, or look for something else (my favourite bit).

I came close to buying this what must be a couple of years ago. Like you say, some really good parts on it - but the seller wanted too much money for a non-runner (It was a bad time to be selling and prices for kit cars weren't as stupid as they are now).
Note to self, must get on with the part built one I have stashed away before petrol prices make it not worth building!

Managed to tick a few of the remaining jobs off. Had a bit of a headache with trims for the headlights not fitting. It’s almost as if they drilled the fixings in the wrong place (wibblepoo repro stuff). A couple more holes and some self tappers got it sorted. I’ve had an early grille kicking around for a few years. It was a bit battered so I had a bit of play around and quite like the outcome. Not to everyone’s taste, but replacements are silly money so it can stay for now. I also have the chrome surround but I’m still unsure if it would look right, or if I should just leave it painted. Uprated front springs finally arrived and the car now sits much better. Starting point: Springs fitted: Sits just about right to keep it useable. Feels better on the road but it’s still not right. It’s very skittish and does not feel at all planted on ghe road. Think it’s a combination of old shocks and the fact I haven’t even had the tracking checked yet. Just suspension work, a couple of bits of trim and the speedo still to sort. N.B. MoT also passed!

Well done.
I know people have been a little critical in the past regarding the potential benefit of the conversion in terms of the power v the existing A series. With those sort of figures it hopefully puts it to bed.
Would be really interesting to put this up against the more common K-series conversion as with those WHP figures I don't think there would be much in it at all (given the obvious advantage of not needing to modify the shell).

Had a go at cleaning the fuel tank out and a new fuel sender appears to have made things much better. The tank wasn’t perfect but I don’t think there was enough curse word left in there to block the in tank filter again. Filled the forms for historic tax. I had a v112 form ready to claim MoT exemption (no modifications in the last 30 years 🤣) but the bloke at the P.O didn’t ask for it so all good. Not too far off being finished now, just the bits previously mentioned (grille and altitude adjustment) and a good clean under the bonnet……. and MoT booked for Tuesday. I’ve had a brief drive and nothing has fallen off yet so all appears good. Not pushed it too much, it’s not a fire breathing monster but definitely quicker than I thought it would be.

Looking good - did it pass? Not taken it yet as there have been a few teething problems. Took it for it’s first drive around the block and it was clear it was suffering from some fuel starvation. Not surprising given 10 year old fuel I said to myself, I’ll dump a couple of gallons of fresh fuel in and it’ll be right! Hmm maybe not Although the tank looks really good from the outside, the sender is reflective of the inside - loads of flaky crud that won’t be easy to remove. I’ve never been happy with the fuel set-up as was just ruining a high pressure pump directly from the tank. I never liked the idea of fitting a lp & hp pump and swirl pot into the system so it would always be prone to starvation round corners and acceleration. I’m currently looking at a bespoke tank with an in-tank pump, or at least a built in swirl pot.

Which is why my good pal Jay the Spring Slasher offered to stand behind me to make sure that if it all did go a bit Pete Tong he would be on hand to advise and correct. A great quote from a mate - Given a bit of practice anyone can paint to a reasonable standard, it's the ability to bring things back when things start to hit the fan that takes the skill! I enjoyed reading this from the start, great to see things are back on track and good luck with the deadline.

As usual I’ve been poor at keeping this updated. Slight miscommunication with the painter meant I had to remove the wings again to get some paint on parts I’d previously baremetaled. Bit of a pain, but it’s now done. It’s been quite an enjoyable time fitting parts that were refurbished/bought years ago 😂 Car is now back home with just a few jobs remaining: - Due to the t9 gearbox position and non standard tunnel, the standard tunnel carpet will not fit. I’ve got some ideas of what I want to sort this. - Clutch cable needs adjusting. Not an easy job as the cable adjustment is on the engine side underneath the inlet manifold, wiring and fuel pipes. Skinned arms here we come….again. - No speedo at the moment due to change of box. Several options available, either new gps/electronic speedo, modify the cable route or fit a geared 90 degree angle drive. - I need a front grille. - With the lighter engine it needs some altitude adjustment. It will just be new springs upfront and blocks on the rear cart springs to start with. The last three points may have to wait for a few months until the car fund recovers (dailies have given it a bit of a battering if late). Although now over 40 years old, given the changes made I’ve decided to MoT the car. Other than the clutch, none of the above will stop this so I’m going to get it booked in, in the next few days. Wish me luck!

Looking good! When I did my doors i replaced the hinge screws with bolts, them I could hold the door and tighten with socket with an extension. Then when all was correct, i swapped the screws back in. Bad explanation on my part, I was meaning building back up the door furniture - fitting new outer weather strips and felt inners is a real pain, never mind getting the quarter light and door glass all back in place 😂
