The only thing that bugs me about the KGF operation is they change the advertised price to SOLD when the car gets sold. I don't need to see the final bargained price, but it would be nice to say a little down the line.... "KGF advertised a Mint Citroen Xsara Picasso for 10K and it actually sold"
If I'd have had the space I'd have been off to look at the Cortina GXL they had a little while ago.

Not too much of great interest this week, but it is all progress. I'm now the proud owner of my 3rd sunroof cover. This one is genuine unfitted NOS. Compared to the original which has been repaired with sikaflex and ali. The outer cover looks a bit smarter too Whilst the white against my light grey roof wouldn't be the worst combination ever. I think I'm going to get furniture clinic to match me some vinyl paint, and get it grey. I've spent quite a few hours in the garage detailing the rear 3/4. Some glaze, and lots of guide coat and blocking. Also been paying close attention to all the edges and joins, as this makes a real difference to the finished job IMHO. This is where I'm at Pretty much ready for paint are - Rear wing
- Sill
- B-Pillar
- C-Pillar
- Rear door
Just waiting for the etch primer to be delivered.

Now you've sent me down an alley. I was planning to do tinted raptor to match the Dove Grey on my bodywork. Now I want to chuck a load of flake into it

Although the raptor product is 2K does it contain isocyanate? What do the safety data sheets says? I am considering using it on my MK2 when I get that far but hadn't looked into what would be required to spray it yet. Raptor has isocyanates - so be careful out there

Ofcourse you can use a BA set just like you can in any hazardous environment but I'm not sure it's going to work out cheaper for anyone. Have you got the kit to fill the tanks? Those escape sets wont last you long, they are litrally just for emergency escape use. A proper BA set that will last a decent length of time enough to paint a car is alot more bulky and I wouldnt want to paint a car with one. I don't have the space for a 2nd compressor, hence looking at the BA kit, which I can bung in the loft when not using. I want to spray some Raptor underseal which is 2K and a few other bits and bats. I'm sticking to celly for the main car. But for completeness my dive shop is 10mins away and charges 7.50 to fill the bottle, normally while you wait. I think it is a solution that will work for me, and I'll hopefully be alive to tell the tale afterwards.

After spending about 10 hours with a grinder in one hand and a welder in the other...... It was time for a change a pace, and take the only working classic in the fleet, out for an hour in the New Forest. With batteries charged - the cars and mine, back for a couple of hours in the garage. Finished off the rust repairs on the inside of the bonnet. The rusty outer corners, I'm going to do with the bonnet back on the car, so I can check the fit. But I think I'm going to have to finish the filler work on the passenger side first, so I can get it back on the wheels, before I try fitting the big awkward panel. Thanks for looking.

Managed to get a full day in the garage today. The bonnet got all my attention. This side has all 8 or so repair sections welded into the inner structure. Turn the bonnet around and start on the other side, The section on the right, I knew was rotten, so I chopped it out before the bonnet went for dipping. But this process holds no prisoners and gets everywhere I'm using dual gas struts for the bonnet, so this section got a couple of captives for the bracket. Come 5pm I'd had enough of patching the bonnet, this was as far as I got. Five sections all done, and the 6th ready to go in tomorrow. Not sure yet if I'm going to do the patches on the outer skin on, or off the car. Thanks for looking.

I'm sorry to say it but the finish and general process appears to be a lot better than Envirostrip not that they give a bad result. I'd agree. I've got a front wing from Envirostrip , and the penetration into seams etc is definitely better at Ribble. I can see my Toyota LandCruiser project getting the Korroprime treatment., it seems quite similar to the e-coat some of factory Toyota panels have come in.

I'm giving the filler a rest, I picked up quite a nasty burn on my arm, so rubbing down filler is not what the doctor ordered. But enthusiasm was renewed when I picked up the panels @grumpynorthener got dipped for me. I have to say - I love the finish on these parts. The radiator slam panel had lots of surface rust underneath, and would have been horrible to make nice. The panel that covers the fuel tank was in good nick, but was slathered in stonechip. So again would have been a nightmare at home. It will probably get stonechipped on the underside as a sound deadener, but at least I'll know it is all solid. The bonnet also went for dipping, as I knew it had rot in the corners. Hmmm crunchy..... Turning it over, and it doesn't get much better. I cut out a rusted section - but look how has the primer got so far into the panel ? Impressive Three small repair sections welded into place. The fourth long section is ready to go in, but there was a bit of grot on the seam, so as it was time to stop for dinner, I put on some Hydrate 80 Plenty more repairs needed - but then again I didn't have much planned for the weekend. If I get it close to finished this weekend - I'll be doing well. Thanks for looking.

Would that need an IVA test ? Or is there some sort of exception if you can prove the mods were done ages ago ?

Bringing this one back to the top, as I want to spray some 2K at home. I'm not looking at doing a whole shell, and I've got a big extractor fan fitted to the garage. To summarise: Air fed mask is tricky and expensive to do at home. Disposable carbon mask, some say works fine, but you still need goggles and of course gloves. So I've thought laterally, and looked at fireman style breathing apparatus. I got this setup from a wasp exterminator from eBay for £65 !! New I think it would be close to a grand, but others have sold for <£100, so they are out there. The 3L bottle was out of test. But I've got a dive shop 10 mins down the road, that tested and filled the 3L cylinder for £53 I think they only rate the small cylinder for 15mins in the diving world. But on the surface and not breathing hard, and not needing much of a safety margin, I'm hoping to get double that. Which in reality I believe is quite a lot of painting time. The visor even came with a spectacle frame, so I'll get some +1 lenses thrown in there. The only other thing I'll need is some disposable visor protectors, so I don't get paint on the main visor. Being only a small cylinder, the waistcoat is easy and comfortable to wear. The fit of the mask is good, as it is a truly scary thing to wear with the bottle turned off, it will suffocate you. So is this the £120 solution to spraying 2K at home ?

I've got one of these bead rollerFor ali door panels and louvres in my bonnet, I've not had to beef it up. But I've swapped out the crank handle for a steering wheel from eBay off of a Massey Fergerson (sp?) Just about usable solo with the wheel.

I wanted to turn a brass bezel silver. So I chose a bright nickel kit from Gasteros plating. Read the instructions several times, and made some notes. Then set it all up on the bench with a proper power supply. I used an aquarium bubbler, and a heater to hold the solution to 32C A misc brass plumbing fitting, a couple of keys, and the bezel. The bezel was polished to the best I could get it. The key had a half-hearted polish. Halfway through the cleaning process, I got a weird reaction. I didn't bother re-cleaning the fittings or the key, but I did re-polish the bezel. I had read the first piece in the tank should be sacrificial, as the anodes settle down/clean or whatever. But regardless the fitting came out okay - a little rough, which I believe to be expected. The fitting was the first piece in. The key was rubbish, that was the 2nd piece in. 3rd time was a charm for the bezel. The shine on the bezel is straight out of the plating tank, just rinse off and dried. It was in the tank for 45mins, at 2V, but I calculated the surface area and used 1.5Amps Very happy with that. I shall probably use it for some more fittings in the engine bay when the time comes.

I've seen a few good deals on parts from UAE. I've got to get around to buying a PTO shifter cable from there. They even had NOS doors in original packaging - not cheap though. On an overland vehicle they occasionally have a map of the route they have planned on the bodywork. Maybe I should do a similar thing with where I buy my parts from. I might have to add France to that list These people seem to do some good body tub options

Hold on - I only saw this yesterday, and it is close to finished already The patina on this is van is just stunning, pictures don't do it justice. With a nicely detailed engine, it is very much what the rat rod scene strives to achieve.

I have no practical experience, but was ready to buy an Ender 3/ Ender 3 Pro. But from the reading I've done, they seem to need a lot of upgrades/fiddling, and I don't need the actual printer to be another hobby.
So I'm in the queue for a Prusa Mini. This is quite staggering for me, as I'm very impetuous, and always want stuff now. But the feeling I got, was it would take me until September (when the Mini is shipping) and a similar amount of money. So I might as well wait until September, where I'm hoping the Prusa hype/build quality will give me a decent success rate.
