I think Japanese cars dominated the market during and after the 80's and made pretty much everything else redundant(at least all of the British Motor industry). I think this is one of the main reason why we forget about many 'decent but not amazing' cars. It's funny because we used to think they were curse word, nicknamed 'japcrap', however actions speaks louder than words. They were the most reliable cars in the world. Whilst you were there in the morning trying to get your Austin Allegro started, your friendly next door neighbor was jumping straight into his Datsun 120Y and driving away without any hassles. All the other manufactures had to either step up their game or GTFO of the industry. Japanese cars were reliable, economical, efficient, comfortable and good quality cars, everything that German cars 'claim' to be now. Sure they may lack in a bit of style(not in my opinion, look how sexy AF the FD RX7 is) but no one can deny that J cars forced everyone else to manufacture better cars. Additionally, no other country manufactured cars which allowed the average 18 year old kid to build something in his own garage which would give Lamborghini's rolling of the showroom a good run for their money. The way their cars were put together made them so easy and to work on and for kids to learn basics on. Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda etc all constructed engines which were capable of remarkable power and stress loads. My forgotten hero: The Nissan Pulsar GTIR. Does 0-60mph in around 5 and half seconds and tops out at around 144mph. Sure, being Japanese there was always room to improve those figures. You'd have wished you'd kept your £50k M3 in the garage if you came across one that was even slightly tuned.

Got a Glanza with manual plate LSD gearbox. Although it works extremely well, it's quiet noisy under low loads.
No experience with ATB but they're probably much better for road use.

Just testing the water with this one. Interested in swapping for something Retro. Quick. Possibly Japanese? Pulsar GTIR? .....TRY ME Mercedes Benz W123 280CE in Cypress Green (beautiful rare color). 160k miles(breaking in mileage for mercs of this era) Fully stamped service history carried out approx every 10,000 miles from date of purchase and some additional receipts Car drives excellent with no noises or issues. Was told that gearbox had been reconditioned for peace of mind from previous owner however no receipt to confirm New Mercedes OEM Window and Door seals (boy this wasn't cheap) Will be offered with fresh MOT Wool Velour interior and other optional extras I bought the car about a year ago with ambitions of restoring it and then planting a c43 AMG engine and transmission in to it. After some research, i found that there were only 25 left on road and I figured it would be a shame to move away from it's originality. Being only 25 years of age, it's not really the car for me so I would like to swap it for something retro and quick. The car had some minor corrosion in some places due to draining lines being clogged up which is why I decided to invest in restoring and respraying all the body work from top and bottom. Currently at body shop undergoing full body restoration and respray back to original color. The guys carrying out the work is a specialist welder and specializes in restoring classic cars. All the work being carried out has been fully paid for. I am happy to take any interested parties to the body shop to view car, see the quality of work being carried out and confirm payments have been made in full to body shop. There are only 25 odd left on UK roads. There is only one for sale on ebay asking £17,000. Prices are only going one way with these. The 280CE's (with m110 engines) are much more spartan in performance and are demanding higher premiums. With 185bhp, they were considerably more powerful than the Porsche 911 (standard 911 producing 165bhp and the 911S produced 175bhp www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/classic/models/911-g/911-911s/) of the same era. Some consider the W123 the best Mercedes automobiles ever built. This listing is for the car with full body restored, freshly resprayed and assembled back together. All parts present. I also have rare period correct Fondmetal mesh alloys for this car, brand new H&R springs, brand new K&N Air Filter and brand new Mercedes OEM window and door rubber seals which will be fitted with restoration work currently being carried out. Bad bits: > The car has been off road for a few years now so would recommend a service and quick going over. Starts and drives fine otherwise. > Interior is rough. Attention will be required on interior to match restored exterior. I have a pair of Recaro Classic C seats which are worth in excess of £2k. Willing to throw these in for the right car. I appreciate that the car is still currently being worked on so this is not your average swap proposal. I am flexible and happy to work with you and your requirements. Just ask if there is any other relevant information you need. Pics to follow.

Usual weak spots on the Saab are the door bottoms and driveshaft tunnels, what are they like for rust? Hi Paul99, thanks for your message. I have tried to take pictures of the door bottoms however they didn't come out so well....no rust there though, it's solid all around bud. I can't say I've looked at the drive shaft tunnels. Where are you based? Come and have a look at it.. The car is my dad's so your welcome to call him, he'd be happy to have a chat about it and he knows a lot more about it then me. Also Daihatsu has been sold now guys! Saab still for sale.

My dad has a SAAB 900 for sale. It's a manual 2.0 fuel injection at the moment but he has a turbo engine and box to go with it.
PM me if interested. It's going cheap.
Thanks

Thanks for the comments fellas, I swapped it for a Audi 80 Cabriolet in the end. I still have full grey leather interior and pre facelift m5 lights if anyone is interested. Going dead cheap.

Rob, it is indeed.
Just last weekend, I did a 100 mile trip and averaged 33mpg; no problems surfaced at all! In fact, the car drove far smoother than the brand new VW Tiguan I had as company car. Quiet incredible for a car that's done 175k!

Thanks Matt.
Mylittletony; I believe it is single vanos but you can confirm when I upload pics of bay. I will upload pics of interior and engine in a little while, watch this space.
The car is provisionally sold, I have someone who says they will be collecting tomorrow. However I've had a number of people say the same thing previously and never show up so consider it still on sale!
Thanks
