Getting on a flight on Tuesday to the red centre. Couple of days at Ayers Rock then it's off to Alice Springs where we are picking up a 27ft motor home to drive to Melbourne via Adelaide. It's a relocation for the hire company so cheap for us but achieves a purpose for both parties. Holly curse word that’s a long drive ! Enjoy, get a real perspective of just how big the place is. I was staying in a hostel in Adelaide (a long long time ago) when a Japanese man joined us in the room and he explained he had cycled from Perth ! Took 3 weeks or something. He was very thin and brown ! James When we were up in Queensland a couple of years ago we met an English bloke who was cycling around the world. He came and stayed with us in Sydney over the New Year for a week before heading down to Melbourne. Unfortunately due to the fires he had to bus it down to Melbourne in the end. He then popped over to NZ and did that before China Flu hit and he had to go back to the UK. Hoping to catch up with him on our return. He's myendlesssummer_theworldbybike on Insta. Really nice bloke.

What a great thing to do. Hopefully Tuesday will go in your favour. Thank you mate. I have desperately wanted todo something for anyone really for some years, last time was when McMurphy and his wife stayed here at home with me and used my place as a base. It felt great doing stuff for them. Regarding the job situation, I can only hope that some common sense prevails, based on my history and pedigree. You're one of lifes good guys Rian. It's a pleasure to share your life vicariously through this forum.

This was looking towards Litton and Peters Stone in Derbyshire this morning. Peters Stone was the location of the last gibbet in the UK where they hang someone and then put their body in a cage. Not my photo obviously.

A like that is not a like, but a nod toward your adventure, and thank you for sharing it with us. Safe travels. It’s all rather exciting Rian. There’s more adventures to come and then back to scenery like this on my doorstep. I’m a proud Englishman at heart.

The Throttle Shop often has some pretty cool cars for sale, the type that probably sit in the collections of wealthy folks who don't take them out very often. I didn't realise that Zagatos were worth that much! Thanks for all the great pics you've posted while you've been here, it's been one of my favourite threads. Best of luck to you when you head back to the UK, I hope everything goes well for you. Cheers! Thanks auswol I've really enjoyed doing it and glad it's been of interest to people other than myself.
The shipping agents came yesterday and took our remaining belongings and then the Captiva went today. The Australian footprint 🇦🇺 👣 has almost gone. Mind you, if this weather doesn't improve I'll not be sad to leave!

I've had 2 MG Metros and a Rover 1.4 Gsi one. The Rover was a great pocket rocket and felt more refined.

Very cool selection at that dealership. Some amazing motors and amazing prices to go with them! The salesman told me they usually only last about 4 weeks before being sold so there must be some money passing through there.

Morning mate, You certainly put the meaning of “Going out with a bang” in perspective. Great post. I am so pleased your old boss feels the way he or is it a she, does about you. When I moved here in 2002, the SA branch of the company kept offering me a custom made job for 5 years till I said I had settled and would not return unless something big happened. I think, often those offers are a true reflection of your value and what effort you had put in. Well done, retrospectively and welcome back when you get back. Morning/evening Grizz. Thank you for those kind words.. The funny thing is I only worked there for 6 months before coming to Australia but I did get on well with my boss so he obviously appreciated me. I did get a job up on the Sunshine Coast as we were planning on staying there a while. I only ended up being there for 6 weeks and they were gutted I was leaving as they had big plans for me in the fabrication shop apparently. I’ve always tried to give a fair days work for a fair days pay wherever I’ve been.

All the best for the future Nudger. I've enjoyed this thread. Hope things work out for you and yours wherever you end up. Cheers Igor appreciate it. Life back in Chesterfield will be just grand. Actually had my old boss message me the other day to see if I want my old job back so that's a result 👍🏻

Fair to say there's a bit of weather around when you wake up to a text like this. A 3rd consecutive La Nina year looks like wreaking more havoc on the East Coast. Australia is a country of fire and flood.

First 260 odd km of 15,000 to get home. Drove from the Sunshine Coast down over the border into NSW and Byron Bay. Passed this Humber Super Snipe somewhere around the Gold Coast.
Then in a stormy Byron Bay were these 2 Landies. Ooroo.

Just read through your thread and it's great to see it all coming back together. My mate had a hatchback version back in the 90's with wide Minilites and 4 Cibie Oscars across the front. I thought that car was the mutts nuts.
