M51 uses a drive by wire throttle. Maybe there is a problem there?
I build an M51 into my e30 a long time ago. Unbolting that top cover on the pump and sliding it forward a very little bit gave me a very fast reaction on the throttle, like a petrol engine. However it would drop back in revs slowly.
If the car idles i would look at the throttle pot meter first.

Since Daf is a dutch company i would expect them to use metric sizes.
If it's M12 it probably is a finer pitch like m12x1,5 or m12x1,25. You could try fitting a modern wheel bolt, these are often m12x1,5.
If there is a shop near you that specialices in hydraulic systems they can probably help you.

The car actually has very good grip. My custom rear axle really digs in and grips when you put your foot down.
I run 195-50-15, a bit lower then original.

It was not a real problem.
We have to have the car checked/certified because of the engine swap. Costs 56 euro's.. After looking a minute at my rear axle they told me i did a good job and went on inspecting the rest of the car. After the inspection i had to pay 84 euro's. I asked why and they told me they also certified the rear axle... 🙄
Makes a fun car for my daily commute.

Hello, another dutch giulia owner.. 😎
I've seen that roundabout before but didn't remember where or when.
My giulia is my daily drive, but is a bit less appealing to the eye as yours. Also it has been modified a bit, mainly technically which is not everybody's liking.. 😂
Maybe i'll see you later when these crazy times are over. Perhaps on the Targa Giulia?

What are you gonna do with the rear axle? Volvo ratios are mostly like 3.67:1 while a manual 530d has 2.35:1 With the volvo axle you end up with very short gears. 5 speed manual gearbox is 1:1 in fifth gear, that doesn't help either. My mate is building a 265 volvo with an Om606. He's using a 6 speed bmw gearbox and bought some longer ratio ring&pignon to fit in his axle. Robert ? nope, his name is Jeroen. He bought some longer diff but he didn't remember the ratio when i asked him. 😐

My first car was a black 1988 33 1.7qv. Hit hard with the lowering stick and on 15" fondmetal wheels.
Engine was great. After a good tune and swapping out the rotor it would rev to the end of the gauge and pull hard even past the redline.
Taking the lid off the airbox and going for a drive became the ideal way to upset some local crx-boys... Induction music.
Only downside was the v12 like petrol consumption. I actually emptied a tank in less then 200km (120 miles) with some very spirited driving. Watching inside the carbs and seeing the acceleration enrichment at work kinda explained that. 😉
Had some great fun with it. Crashed it (not my fault) and bought a 33 giardinetta from the insurance money. Put the engine in that car and had a lot of fun again. Later i traded it in on an alfa 75 TS which started my love for the alfa transaxle models and rwd in general.

My twin spark 75 had eight plugs, my understanding was always that they fired together to improve the burn. Almost right. At every Alfa Twin Spartk (8v or 16V.) one of the plugs ingnites just a bit earlier than it's sister in the same combustion chamber giving a wider and longer flame front. Thom Wrong. On the 8v TS they fire at exact the same time. The ecu only has one ignitiondriver that sends the signal to both coils at once. The 16v uses coil on plug with a short lead to the extra plug. I suspect they also fire at the same time since it's effectively 1 coil for 2 plugs.

Dakota digital sells a unit which can convert an incoming signal into another signal and gives you the possibility to finetune it.
I use it in my giulia to convert the signal coming from my bmw diff to work with my alfa 156 tacho which is normally fed with a signal from an ABS-unit. Works perfect.
That way you could probably use the signal from the ecu to drive the revcounter.

That might not be an easy swap as the audi spins the pump the other way around..
On the audi drive for the pump comes from the rear of the camshaft so it rotates the other way around compared to most other pumps.

Only from other audi 5 cylinder diesel. The older 100/200 series were available with a mechanical pump. From a TD would be best.
Why not swap/fix the pump? Easiest option. Mechanical conversion makes the engine less refined.

Drop a 2.8 crank in the 3.2 to get a low compression 3.0 and start boosting...
Very strong internals. Easily capable of 400+bhp.
More modern 24v versions are the ones to get.their more modern enginemanagementsystems makes them less thirsty. The old 12v ones are getting tired by now.
Golf mk3 vr6 was not an impressive car to me. 2.8 litre with 2.0 performance and 4.0 consumption.. They do sound glorious.

It helps to have mates who are into drifting. They tend to have a lot of bmw parts laying around. Another mate was a wrecker, easy to snoop around looking for useable parts.
Logical thinking and stealing good ideas from other projects is key to succes. This was a low budget build. The parts used for this car had to be up to the job and be cheap. Using brakes from heavier and more powerful car is usually cheaper then buying a big brake kit. Only thing i'm not totally sure about is the gearbox. It's the vauxhall/opel omega R25/28. With the 20v i get about 600nm instead of the 400nm it has now. That might scare the gearbox.. I hope it handles it well as i don't look forward to changing to a bmw gearbox. That would mean a lot of work..

This is ace. How did you modify your turbo VNT control to work with boost? I've been trying a few different mechanical methods out recently and none seem to be perfect yet. The original 10v jtd turbo from the 136bhp version works with boost. I destroyed the original turbo and got a 20v turbo as a replacement for it. I modified the 10v actuator to work on the 20v and it works.. 😊 It keeps the vanes in the small position and moves them out as boost rises. There is always boost available. It might however be not the best solution since you're always restricting the airflow. Modern vacuumcontrolled turbo's don't do that.

At the moment i'm looking into a strange vibration in the driveline. Over the winter i'm going to fit a newer 20v jtd engine to get more power... 260-270bhp with about 600nm should make it plenty fast. 😊
Will need to change a lot to make it fit but i'll manage.
