Mostly piped and wired. Had to extend breather beteween rocker and turbo inlet. Very tight. Had to space the ARB down about an inch with some bits of rusty box section with too-thin a wall section to be safe, just to be safe.. Hard boost hoses out of the turbo didnt fit, had to be ninja bent and have all brackets thrown in the bin. (and not replaced). Photo doesn't show proportion but there is about 1/2 - 3/4" of clearance between the two, the sump sits more behind than above the ARB. Tranny cooler lines shown there do fit but they are tight due to -4" less room.

Its looking very mean my C300... I can confirm that broccoli-cheese is awesome, sweet potato mash is awesome too. Getting build up with ancils.. HEater pipes don't line up, heater circ pump fits the turbo, rad hoses need shortening by a few inches, airbox doesn't sit on OEM mounts, rad needs to go forwards 4" even with mech fan and visco coupling in the bin. But it does all go.. Less than 2" between rad and pulley, something needs to be done!

Figureing out the torque converter and flywheel swap fitment took ages, lots of wiggling to seat things, no mechanical interferenced though. (ECU calculated revs from flywheel and the number of pickup tags are different on the 605/606 hence the swap. Lots of wood for the burner to keep us warm over the weekend! USed original 605 engine mounts to keep the bellhousing in the same place so we wouldnt have to fab tranny mounts / propshaft length change etxc. It fits, verylong mind.. SHowing 605 EDC plug on right and 606 plug on left, I must stop assuming things are going to fit.. Wire colours matchned up fine tho. Wired ready for test fire. I need to compress the vid so I can add it..

Don't realise that you have to hold the TQ onto the tranny to stop them seperating while at the same time don't realise that the tranny communicates its ATF to the TQ through the centre spined shaft and it spills everywhere.. Realise your sneaky friend swapped his curse word 3/8 extension for your pro one.. Less than ideal beer/engine ratio going on, must have been before noon.. OM605.960 flywheel and flexdisk, heavy because of inherent unbalance of 5-cyl? Compared to OM606.962 flexdisk only, doesn't have FW..

Engine de-wired, theres one loom on the right hand side which drapes over and down the RH side of the engine for sensors and glowers, and a multiplug for the EDC IP. Engine tranny pulled out, prop is splined into the centre bearing so it just pulls out, then you wander if the prop is ballanced as an assembly and it needs to be assembled in the same orientation then pretend you didn't have that thought.. Then you realise the 605 and 606 EDC IP plugs are completely different and wander how you missed that.. But then you are thankful that the wire colours match up..

Ah the lady asked if I was a member of any clubs and I said the Merc one because it might make the policy cheaper, which it did but club membership was £38 lol..
It sounded like they just employ some telephone operatives and theres a few managers and thats it.
The automated telephone service has different options for classic / modern / etc car policies.

Very impressive work. I've been waiting for ages to see someone experimenting with Mercedes engines, I have an old 1981 camper van that I want to put a more modern engine in, I just want to fit the engine as standard (without super chargeretc) but was given the impression that there would be a load of electronic gubbins to go with it. I'd like a standard turbo charged engine and I don't want to chop the cab about to get it in so I think I'll probably need a 4 cylinder. Can you suggest one of the merc engines and what I'd need to do to make it work? Cheers The easiest Mercedes lump to buy and get running mechanically is the 5 cylinder, using Ssangyong Musso 2.9 injection pump, or the complete Ssangyong 2.9 5 cylinder engine. Sorry but my interest in any of the 4 cylinder diesels just doesn't exist anymore, too small and rough in comparison to a straight 5/6 or V8 You'll want the 4 cylinder version called the OM604 fitted to the (pre-cdi) Mercedes C220td / C200td, and then the Bosch mechanical IP from a Sprinter or Vito which was fitted with an OM601 (SOHC version). And make 350hp like this guy.. www.superturbodiesel.com/std/showthread.php?tid=6138Beers, H.

Some carbs such as those fitted to R1's are built up with spacers in between each 'carb' making respacing them for your port centres more difficult, requiring custom spacers turning up. Just something to consider when choosing.

Many thanks for the warm welcomes chaps, great club you have here, so often projects are met with criticism or negativity, so it's refreshing to see.
I have no plans to upgrade it as yet, in future i will plan an Eaton M90 in the centre Vee instead of the intake plenum, the engine will respond very well to that, sadly i have no room for turbos etc but i don't want to overtune it either, i've made that mistake before. I am aiming for refinement with a good spread of useabel torque and of course a fantastic engine note, it won't be the quickest car in the world, certainly nowhere near my customers builds or my own Mk1 Mr2 which has the 3.5ltr supercharged V6 (Lotus Evora unit) mated to a Toyota Scion TC 6 speed box...
This thing absolutely flies, but a tad raw and tries to kill me.
Although i do engine conversions professionally for a living i'm keen not to promote my business here, i always have a 4-6 month waiting list for that, so the 944 is just another one of my personal builds i'd like to share, hopefully give someone else the info they need to do this themselves.
Ohhhhh is that a whipple??

Just got a 202 coupe fing I fink with a 5pot derv and manual box if there interechangeable Yes and no... The gearbox, flywheel, ect will bolt up no problem, they all share the same bolt pattern. But the ecu on the 300 will throw a strop without the auto box to talk to. That's why you see all the manual ones running a mechanical pump. Hario on this forum is trying to convert one to manual using the 5 cyl electronics: linkThere isn't a build thread for mine yet, too busy thrashing it. If you pm me your email I can send you some pics if you like? I'm keeping it with an electronic injection pump and electronic autobox, just fitting the straight 6 into a C250 to make it a C300. Manual pump to go with manual box in due course.

You can make a statutory declaration in court (takes 10 minutes) to declare under oath that you were unaware of the orignial letter due to it being posted to an old address, and this will 'reset' the timeframe, then you will be eligible for the orignial terms.
But you will need a excuse that will stand up in court, forgetting to change address doesn't count IIRC..

Hello just thought I'd share my bargain insurance policy price I got with Peter Best Insurance Services I'm 26, no NCB, no points or crashes. Living in London SW15 My car: Mercedes C250TD Wagon, alloys declared. They checked and deemed it a classic as it is over either 10 or 15 years old, can't remember. 4000 mile policy, fully comprehensive, garaged, it's my second car (company car is my main vehicle). Had to provide my Mercedes Benz Owners Club (MBOC) membership number, total anual policy: £152. (£200 excess). I was lost for words on the phone with the lady.. Because comparethemeercat wanted £850!
Just thought I'd share that with y'all, they specialise in $x$, classics, mods etc. Wooooo

I thought classic Rangerover diffs were 3.5-something:1 ratio and a direct fit into leafer axles?
I was sure Defender ones had a different spline count or something making them incompatible?
