I have the Black and Decker one. To be honest I thought it was going to be curse word when I bought it but it's great. One of the handiest tools I never knew I needed before I bought it. Wouldn't be without one now.
Lidl now also do one every so often which looks even better because it has a few different fittings for the end.

If the air con clutch doesn't work I found another source for a brake. On eBay a few years ago I bought a DC motor from a stair lift (for a bead roller drive). It came with a brake. From memory it was a self contained unit which just fitted over a hex shape on the motor shaft. I might even still have it somewhere.

darn- I have this thread bookmarked but hadn't checked in for a few days and thumbnail dies make an appearance. I could have tried to convert the .stp files for you. I use BobCad/CAM - which has the ability to open and save as a lot of formats. (BobCad gets a lot of bad press but for a home hobby user it is very good (and you never pay list prices that they advertise - their sales people will bargain) I have a Trumpf reciprocating machine and have thumbnail dies on my list of things to do but have never got around to them. Would you be interested in sharing the CAD files? Or would you be interested in making 2 sets? Thanks for the offer of file conversion. Always good to know ! These files are not my intellectual property. They were made available to me with the only caveat being they are for personal use only. Not for commercial gain. If I had to make you a set of dies,I feel I would be going against the spirit in which they were given, something I do not want to do. As for sharing the files,I don't think it's my place to decide who should have them, and start distributing them to all and sundry. That having been said, Brent seems a very obliging guy. I think your best option would be to contact him on the metalmeet forum and ask his permission. I am sure he would agree. If so,I will gladly email them over to you ..Pm me for further details. After a cursory glance,if you do use them,be a bit careful with how to write the program . The file has been drawn with a surface on the underside that looks very pretty ,but, this could try and send your ball nose cutter straight through the middle of the part .... No prob. Thanks. I'm om metal meet to so I'll seek him out.

Pity you are moving it on, although I think you might be as well off. It looked nice in the pictures but looking at some of the stuff you dug into, sunroof mods for example, it did look like a previous bodger had been at work. I think with these cars you have to be able to do most of the work yourself. Otherwise it is too expensive and hard to justify based on the value of the car. Some of the prices above are eye watering to me.

I have a Dansk on mine. I think they sound great. Nice bark off it when you open it up but also it doesn't drone at cruising speed.

If I had a K11 i'd make it like that and win at life (well it'd have to have something hotter under the bonnet as well ) Haven't seen that before. Photoshop I assume? Looks cool. Someone should build it. I had a facelift K11 for a while as an "in between cars" car - ended up driving it for 18 months. They are quick enough if you redline them in every gear and you couldn't kill them. I much prefer the pre facelift though.

I know, yes. Knew this. Though - sometimes I like to understand how things work by experiencing how they work. And from now on, I'll never look at a bent pipe the same way as I did before. I'll be able to judge this sort of work by personal experience. And sometimes this knowledge/experience is worth a lot more than the quality of the things you produce along the way. If that makes sense. No success without failure You need one of these www.stakesys.co.uk/tube-pipe-benders/manual-tube-benders/sta137-buzz-bench-top-manual-tube-benderNice looking kit although a bit pricey for occasional use. I made a die myself for bending fuel pipe a few years ago. From looking at your dies the main thing I think is that the depth of the channel in the die should be at least 50% of the diameter of the tubing - so that when it is being bent the sides of the tubing are kept in check. Hard to describe....

Great to see this back here again. Your thread was also inspiration for me buying a 944 along with a set of Azevs. Don't go complaining about the car this time though You'll only curse word yourself off and want to sell it again. Look at it through rose tinted glasses

I think this might belong in here. There's definite potential: A series one XJ would be an excellent base for a British Cafe Racer car. Sorry to quote such an old post, but that is (for me) the most perfect looking machine ever. It's on Danish plates, I see, but where did you find the pic? I'd love to know more. You won't have to go too far to find out more. He has a good thread on here retrorides.proboards.com/thread/121917/1971-jaguar-manual-retro-race
