A couple of quick thoughts. To test the pump you can put the outfeed into a container and see how much it pumps on turning over - it might not be enough ? To check if the tank isn't the issue you can feed the pump from a fuel can supported higher than the engine. You can also connect the a can held above the engine direct to the carb to see if that works. How much is a new pump ? you might be able to get a service kit with a new rubber diaphragm which is the usual failure point for very little as well.

I liked the 1098 in my clubby estate if that's what you have makes sense to go for it. I'd put money into front disc's if it doesn't have them purely to avoid setting up the drums ! Big smile at 50mph has real value these day I think. James

Small car = lots of progress! What engine and box came with it? A series appear to be getting expensive for anything fruity. James

Back of an envelope sketch for things as bored and avoiding work. If you have thick ish angle then a small radius where the hook goes through and a slightly oversized hole gives a chunk of adjustability with little extra work. If the battery is on some foam or something it’s not going to want to move much anyway! James The younger- thanks for the reminder I feel much better now!

Assume you are thinking of something like this ? J hook with a nut and piece of angle ? Works on the LR fine. Only difficult bit is the oval hole on the corner of the angle. James.

Has the expensive fuel pump been persuaded of the error of its ways? Or to put it another way did a clout sort it out? James

Hi James. Interested in this for my community garage. I see you are in Somerset and note a Bath postcode. I could come to collect at the weekend if that is any good? Rav Message sent. James

Large tank compressor that was working but at lower pressure but now trips out. Nice big tank so could do as storage or as spares repair. collection BA5 1PD James

You’re too far from here I’m afraid, good luck with getting some help. When we are doing some joint workshop stuff to sell for charity people find it odd that they are welcome even if all they do is make the tea and occasionally hold something. As much as anything someone else being there makes you be there ! James

That sort of corrosion, where the metal self destructs from within is called intercrystalline or intergranular corrosion iirc. Know thy enemy! Sounds like a bad day at the office. Hang on in there we have faith in you! James

Looks like you had fun. I think the small quirky cars often carry more style than just another shouty supercar. Clubby estate has a posh bumper that I've never seen before and 12" late mini city wheels. Wheels probably pared with discs just like I did on mine. Doubt if there are many cars with the interior space to exterior size ratio of a mini estate. James

Suspect it’s significantly straighter than most body shops would have it at this point! Cake earned for sure James
