Oh, I finally got round to fit the Land Rover mirrors as well! Yes, they are on both sides I just forgot to get a picture of the drivers side! They're on adaptors that drill into the original holes, I've painted them body colour, and I'm hoping they're better than the originals! Actually, that's not strictly fair, the original VW ones were fine, but one got whacked by a branch and the other was a cheap replacement which both folded in above 60mph.... It's got a Scooby lump, so VW obviously hadn't really planned for that

So. tunes! I've been trying to fit a sub in somewhere, without taking up space in the back, so I think I put some thoughts up there somewhere, but first, the amp. Much mucking about and this went in. But after dicking about for days, I finally gave in trying to fit my 10 inch sub anywhere and bought an underseat subwoofer with integral amp. Now the plan was to put it in a box between the seats, so, and again, I mucked about with this for way too long! And realised that I still want to step between front and back without standing on a big box! This what I've come up with so far. It has a top, obviously, and a curved front, the plan being to cut in a cup holder I nicked out of my wife's Mercedes before she traded it in. First up, bending mdf (YouTube really is a wonderful thing!) More to follow.... who knows when

So, here’s the plan for the setup in the back. There will be a standard 3 way camping fridge, a combined SMEV sink and hob unit, water and gas, and a leisure battery. Some drawers for the essentials and then storage of some sort under the seat. I have a load of 18mm ply that I’ll be using to make the main carcass, just need to decide on the top.

Well, the van is sat up in the workshop and I'm sat at home 10 miles away I knew I should have collected it yesterday. I've been busy though, spending money, practicing my woodworking skills (with varying degrees of success) and generally tidying the van up. I managed to make a central step, with an under seat bass speaker, and am working towards the fitment of a cup holder, and a suitable tray for phone, keys, wallet etc. It'll be carpeted, and with a suitable handbrake gaiter when I get round to it. I'll let the pics do the talking! Oh, I've designed the kitchen unit for the back as well, and that'll be getting started when I get the fridge as that's the main bit for measurements! Pictures to follow!!

On the car, yes, I’m very excited by this thread. I have a hankering for a TT now that they’re so cheap. 225 horses for sub 1k? I’m in As for grinders, I had a circular brush in mine, and having unplugged it to change over I plugged it back in without realising the switch was on. It proceeded to leap around all over the place like a demented dog before I managed to unplug. I scared myself so badly I locked up the workshop and didn’t go back for 2 days!! Much renewed respect for the grinder!! Back to the TT

Looks great. I have a Mk2 with a 2.1 pinto. It’s great but lumpy and impossible to drive under 2k. I keep looking at a Zetec to make it more user friendly, but the MX5 just keeps popping up. Are you using a mk1 or mk2 engine? Other than losing the brake servo and the lip on the heater bubble, does it need anything else chopping? And are you running a standard cross member or World Cup?

Very tidy. I’m just getting myself ready to get stuck into the back of my VW T3 DoKa, and designing and fitting a small cooking set up for one side. There’s not a lot of room, so it’s been fun! How do you cut the boards? I’ve got a cheap table saw and a router set up, but just trying to get to the point where the finish looks good without having to sand and paint it all to cover anything up

Great little fleet you have there. I'm a sucker for a T25, mines held up pretty well since I had all of the welding done, but i cheated and got someone else to do it for me!! Lovely Volvo too. The roofrack has definitely inspired me to try and do something similar. Good work!

I do like this idea, and even though I have a large workshop at the moment, I keep looking at my ever growing list of tools, welder, compressor etc and bricking losing the space! So, bookmarked and watching with interest. Oh, and Pinterest, loads of tool storage options.

Still plugging away Seats are in, after ripping out all of the old (new!) carpet. I’ve been trying to fashion a panel to cover up the runners, so far, sheet steel into the junk pile via a bender and hammers I’ll keep trying though, time to finish this up properly! I promised some more pictures of the back. I had these drawers which are actually for the under bed locker. They’ve worked well, and may find there way back in. And then I started the jigsaw to try and fashion something usable for camping. Something like this, but not! The plan was originally to fit a standard camper fridge but this one camp up for not a lot of money...... it may well end up as a garage beer fridge More playing I think.

Really looking forward to seeing how this goes. Red leather works best with black paint or metallic silver paint on an XJC. InspirationI drooled over this car for hours last year at the Retro Weekender, it is utterly, beyond my limited vocabulary, gorgeous/stunning/insert suitable term here. And the XJC is my all time favourite, dream car. Stunning, and I hope you can do yours justice! Lovely!

The plan for the back was to have a seat, a cooker unit, space for a portaloo (strictly for emergencies!!) and storage for camping type stuff. Have a curse word picture, but it kind of achieved the aim! I also had a load of 3mm aluminium composite sandwich sheet which I bought to build a pod on the back (very definitely a “future” project. I thought I’d have a bash at working with it so knocked up a new door card for the back. Pretty pleased with how it can put, but inevitably it will be getting changed..... So, that was the summer! One run out really bar the local car meets, 400 mile round trip, and a list of “things” to do before the Weekender (although, I may bring the Escorts!) Now, it’s properly winter but I’m determined to get some hours in, so I obviously need to change the seats again! Yep, I probably have a bit of a thing for seats! This time (and what I’ve wanted all along really) Porsche Tombstones. I’ve stripped them down and fitted heated seat elements, and got all of the wiring nice and tidy. Driver seat just need a couple of extra holes drilling but the passenger seat has bugged me since I put the swivel base in, so that’s now getting bolted direct to the seat box having removed the VW seat runners which just made the whole thing rattle like mad! Half way through that, but they is the last time I’m going to change them, so this time they’re getting done properly.
