ok, why? Would it help with something? Less rotating mass, thus less vibration and possibility of the car flying off the axle stands! Yep, sounds reasonable 👍

I have an MGB which is unroadworthy but i want to know if the overdrive works
Is putting it on axle stands and running it up a reasonable way to check it?
I suppose I'm wondering if the rolling resistance of the road might come into it..

I didn't know they were linked in series In this picture do you suppose the bottom right on the left battery (negative) is connected to the bottom left of the right battery (positive) So could I put the 12v battery between the other two connectors?

I used two sets of jump leads. So I had both negative connectors going to the negative on the battery and same with the positive

I've bought this 1973 MGB and it is the first car i've had with two batteries I'd like to see if the car starts so wanted to connect a battery The guy i bought it from said connect the battery leads to a single battery and it should be fine This is what's there at the minute This is the battery i have to hand I connected the single battery to the MG connectors using jump leads and the last connection with a negative lead causes a short (big spark, lots of heat) Am i doing something slightly wrong, very wrong, or risking my life and everyone around me I'm sure it's a negative earth car Also i removed the connectors from the existing batteries to attach the jump leads

I took it for a 10 mile drive and so far so good. It was a little rough on start up but settled down when driving. It's quite strong on the fumes which might just be the way it is or maybe it could do with some tuning. I've got it booked into Mini Sport rolling road so I should find out more about it then 🙂

I took the tank to Morrisons and used their jet wash on it. It seemed to remove quite a bit of debris. I then rinsed it a few times with petrol. The colour is now pretty clear consistently although still with a slight red tinge. And although i can still hear particles moving around inside i'm not sure i can do more at the moment I did get quite a lot of this stuff out With more in these So it's all back together with the fuel coming from the in-line filter looking very close to normal It ran a little rough initially but better the second time of starting. I will try and take it for a run today and see how it is

them images arent working For me either. When cleaning the carbs, did you clean/blow out the jets too? I gave them a good spraying with the carb cleaner

I cleaned out the carbs. This was inside I fitted one of these The fuel coming out is on the left and the stuff going in is on the right After an hour And the next day next to some new fuel I thought it may be ok with the new filter. I also thought about running a second filter right next to it. But i thought really i should get the stuff out of the tank So i removed the tank and this is what comes out with it The trouble now is i can hear loose debris in the tank but it doesn't pour out. I think the baffles are getting in the way. What next? Thanks
