That is a weird one, so it would not turn with both the starter and glow plugs out?
That sounds like water pump jammed / seized or something the flywheel end. No funny noises when it's running now then?

I've got pair of 40 dcoes that have been sitting about for about 8 years, were on a 1660 xflow in a car i bought and running rough as a dog, they are jetted a bit low for that engine and one had a blocked gallery that i carefully (carefully!) cleaned out with a drill bit. All 4 jets were squirting nicely after that doing a squirt test in my hands, But it needs a lead ball peened back in the end of the gallery to complete, or tap it and put a grub screw in the end of the gallery. I have not run them on a car i just replaced them with correctly jetted working ones instead.
I was going to list them and get some pics up, but not exactly sure of correct price point, or if it is worth me sorting the lead ball myself 1st?

Sharpen a thin chisel, if it's sharp it cuts easily, you can bend the edges back after with mole grips. No chance of a fire either.

if it's mainly for bodywork make sure it goes low on the amps, some welders min amps is way too high (over 30A) for bodywork and they will be bastards to use for it. look at the duty cycle too, better welders will have better duty cycle and a larger amp range. Edit: ok downloaded the sheet for that welder, i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole. I'm looking for a welder myself and the r-tech 180A one here is high on the list: www.r-techwelding.co.uk/mig-welder-r-tech-i-mig180/ but i prefer 2nd hand stuff tbh.

+1 for injector. Depending on your definition of "knock", "rattle" "tap" etc..

As long as the seat taper is right then why not? I wouldn't use cheap Chinese aluminium ones though, that is asking for trouble.

Sounds like head gasket, if this is a scrapper then bung some leak seal stuff in it and keep the fluids checked and topped up, not much point in chucking money at it.
If you like the car and are handy with spanners then you could whip the head off for a look see, but if you don't like what you find then it might be a waste of time and money.

Other things to check are engine / gearbox mountings.

Thought it worth finding out what doors these are so i can see if the glass has any value at all before i chuck them. They are in very bad shape buried in the ground with mini mk2 doors are a 4 door orange doors for scrap but it has triplex glass. Can anyone id the car? I'm thinking a Hillman, but any input appreciated. Rear door: I have both rear door glass and front passenger side, drivers was broken. Cheers.

Man you had some chancers and fools didnt you, I'd have been kicking off big time within 3 weeks if they'd tried playing me around like that, but then it's not so easy when they have your kit held to ransom. I think you should name names tbh.
Coming together now though.

It's good to have some spidey senses that tingle.
I got complacent years ago buying computer kit off forums and bank xferred £310 to some c@nt in Nuneaton, I didnt have his address and he sent me a fake tracking number then buggered off with my money. police weren't interested.
These days I pass up good deals if I have the slightest doubts.
