I cannot find the exact link I used, but this ghetto setup gives you the basics.
I used a spare fuel pump to give me decent fuel pressure and a 12v battery to power it and the injector.
I did four tests..
1) Simple 'does it flow any fuel' to check for blocked injector. 2) Leak under pressure ? 3) Thirty cycles, measure how much fuel 4) Spray pattern, I used dark card to spray fuel onto to check it.
My car had 4 injectors - Two flowed pretty much the same and had nice spray patterns - One leaked fuel all the time and had a spray pattern that was a drizzle. In the test it put out a lot of excess fuel. - One worked intermittently and also had a horrible drizzle pattern.
I bought a pack of four as it was cheaper that way, when I tested the new ones, they were very well matched so I installed them and called it a day.

Have you checked the injectors ?
I had a couple of bad ones that had a spray pattern that was more downpour than fine mist and it caused issues that were not too dissimilar to yours.
Following some random instructions on Youtube, I took a close look at the spray patterns and the flow rates.
I ended up replacing all (four) of mine, before I stuck them in I did a quick test and they all had a similar pattern and also flowed pretty much the same.

This thread is hilarious. I saw the BB and figured you had mis-identified it. But no, I am used to seeing Scion XB's, which are a sort of deranged cousin of the BB. I was not even aware that you could get the BB/XB in the UK, now I am looking for one

My only suggestion is to ensure that the numberplate is somewhat recessed, like the Viva.
I have a bit of a pet hate regarding relocated plates that are just stuck onto otherwise flat panels.
I personally like the idea of the Viva lights too - always liked that design....

I've been watching this for a while.
Not because I need a project, but because I like the idea.
A few things that I really want you to take as constructive feedback.....
- Finish the first one. - Get the paint sparkly. black looks like it will suite it, but not flat black, deep, lustrous, expensive black. - Install the glass (all of it) and finish it all off. - Trim the inner roof panel - suede would probably look awesome - Paint the underside of the bonnet and any other areas that show the gel coat. - Do something with the boot area - it looks terrible in the video
- Find a better location for the photos and the video. - An overgrown lawn is not the best place - Edit the photos and the videos - think about the background more (animals, junk etc) - Get some really good shots of the car from many angles in a scenic location. - Think about finding a super keen amateur photographer / videographer to help out.
- Fix the website - There are numerous typo's - At least one section is repeated - Get rid of all of the development photos, you are in production now, show the fantastic finished article. - Put prices on the various additional items
The car has huge promise, I really like the looks.
But you are commanding a premium price for the kit, therefore in my opinion you need to polish up the presentation to at least the level that the buyers would expect.

I got caught up in a similar situation in 1997.
I bought a Cavalier CDI 2.0 Auto, complete with documentation and keys etc and some time later found that it had been stolen.
Per your experience, the police where very good about it and I was obviously not charged.
The car had gone through two other people and the police eventually charged the first person in the line with theft.
The insurance company had long paid out and were therefore the owner of a slightly tatty cavalier CDI, which frankly they did not want.
I had paid £2000 for it and they gave me the option to buy it from them for the absolute bottom book price, which was something like £1000. Figuring that if I did it would be legally mine, I did this, although it sucked badly to be paying £3200 for a crappy car like that.
It took a while for the car to drop off the stolen car register and I was stopped three or four times.
I eventually sold it to my Brother in Law, when it was then stolen (for the second time), he had a hell of a time claiming his insurance as the car had already been the subject of a total loss. All of the paperwork that I gave him on it came in handy and he was able to make the claim. Only for it to be recovered some time later.
My advice is to talk to the Police, talk to the person you got it off, see if between you you can trace the person that stole it and sold it on. Meanwhile talk to the insurance company and see if you can buy it back from them......

I love Single Speeds. This is my 'town bike' Purchased via Gumtree, the forks were seized, the seatpost jammed, the bottom bracket beyond help and both wheels bent. Mostly I used whatever I had available to build it up, the chain is made of spare pieces, the front wheel was free, the seat has a lot of crash damage and the rear wheel part of a set I bought for other use. The frame is a Reynolds 531 Falcon, but pretty much everything else is random. Far less seriously, this is my 'Tweed Ride' bike. The frame is an modern alloy track frame, the forks are Guerciotti carbon ones. I was going for a WW2 fighter 'look', but I think it came out more hot-rod style.....

Whats wrong with the numberplate move and the bits on the back? From memory..... Well it was a popular bodge mostly because the low front plate would take a bashing when the hydrolastic fluid escaped - raising the numberplate - or more often picking it up of the ground and using garden wire to attach it to the grill was quicker and easier than getting the leaks dealt with. It was not a bad thing in the winter, it gave the distributer a tiny bit of additional protection and allowed less cold air in to the engine bay too, but in the summer it was a bad idea due to the already marginal cooling abilities....

I had two Mk3 Golfs, both from new and both Dragon Green Pearl.
The first was a 5-door GTi 8v with Recaro seats and a Sony stereo that I had to punch on a regular basis to make it work. It was stolen off my drive in Basingstoke when it was probably only 3-4 months old.
The second was a VR6, I crashed this one heavily on the A13 in France on a rainy Thursday. Once it was repatriated the insurance company wrote it off. I think that one survived six months with me....
After those two I never wanted another one, but I do like the look of this one....

I really like the way that the Rover is heading. Meanwhile I spotted this on Saturday and obviously thought about this thread. The badge on the back said 'Automatic' - I am presuming that Princesses are rare and the Auto must be even rarer edit: It looks WAY better in the pics than it did IRL - but it was lovely to see one on the road..

I think that this is awesome. BUT. (and yes, I know - don't say anything unless it is nice) My personal constructive advice is that the yellow cage and the unfinished look to the dash hurt the car as a whole. If this where mine and I was looking to sell it, I would rattle-can the cage a dark grey and either paint the dash satin black, or pull it out and cover it with cheap vinyl. I honestly feel that these two things would make a significant improvement to the look of the car and help the eventual sale price substantially. But I still think that the whole thing is awesome
