Yeah, so this totally worked. Got the certificate, called the garage, mate of a mechanic owns it, number passed on.
Wow, this has taken me a year! Cheers colt1982, I really appreciate it!
Probably doesn't speak very well to the security of that information though...

Yeah if you've got the V5 document number I think you can pull up more information, which is fair enough! I'm going to try the V888 form and an FOI request and see where it gets me. I may also send them the open letter suggested above, worth a shot!
If this doesn't work I guess I'll have to patrol the streets looking for it!

Yeah, finding the test centre location was my hope, then at least I can call them and get them to pass my details on to anyone who brings a Mini in!!
I'll try the open letter to the DVLA, worth a shot! I've had a look around facebook groups but not had any luck as of yet.
I'm also going to submit the V888 form and ask for the details of the registered keeper because I want to buy the car because I might as well, can't lose anything if I'm not lying on the form, they'll just deny the request.

I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times, but I've not been able to find anything. I've been trying to find a car for someone and I've come to a dead end.
So far I've looked up the previous MOT history and I've queried the insurance database and found who it's insured with. I've called the DVLA who obviously won't give up any info, and the DVSA who won't pass on any info regarding the MOT test centre.
There's the V888 form which I've found, which is to request information about a vehicle, but I'm not sure "I'd like to buy the car off the owner" is one of their valid reasons. I could lie and tell them something else, but I'm not sure it's worth risking the £5k fine.
Are there any other options? I've seen a few of those sites that purport to do a search for £15, but it's just the DVLA vehicle information search as far as I can see, so I don't want to use those.
The car is a Mini, and there are so many owners clubs out there I'm not sure contacting them and trying to find the owner that way is going to be possible.
The reg is C Two Six Nine SWV, just in case any of you guys own it!!

So far I've got a few people who are interested, I'd put it around 10 at the most, with a solid 5 (six including you).
Just trying to gauge opinion because there's no point going off and trying to find out about warehouses if I've got no one willing to sign up!

Hi all, been mulling this over for a while, trying to work out if it would be something achievable. Would be good to see if others think it's a good idea/would be interested in it.
Basically it's a car club that would use the dues to rent out a large warehouse on an industrial estate somewhere around Canterbury in Kent.
Roughly working it out, a reasonable sized warehouse costs about £8,000 a year, depending on location (This is before negotiations, but we'll take this number and go with it for estimates).
To cover this with 40 members would cost £200 per person. On top of that we'd have to pay insurance and heating/lighting. So we'd need nearer 60 members for this to work.
The membership would get you;
Access to the space to work on any vehicle you own Access to specialist tools to work on said vehicle whilst you're there Discounts with local/national retailers Discounts with insurers
It would cost extra to store your car there, and there's be a nominal fee to borrow tools to take away with you. The club would be exclusive with all members having to pass a probation period, so you're not going to get any old dickhead rocking up and nosing around your cars. I'd expect to be able to negotiate a much higher rate of discount because of this.
The benefits of this over a lockup/council garage is;
More space to work on vehicles Access to the tools More people to lend experience/a hand A larger community of people Lighting/heating Probably a fridge to enjoy a nice cold beer in the summer.
I'd expect to be able to negotiate a reasonable discount on the rental, as we'd be there more evenings and weekends, so wouldn't add to traffic on the estate too much, and would provide an extra layer of security by being there out of hours. I'm also looking around to find a large enough space from someone who is car-friendly, but I'm not holding out much hope on that and I don't want to base it on some pipe dream, this has to be able to support itself financially.
A problem I foresee is cost of insurance. Having power tools, welding gear, classic cars and people using them who might not know what they're doing in one place could be a recipe for disaster, which is why safety training would need to be given (and acknowledgement of training signed by all parties etc.) and why members would need to pass a probation period.
The club would be set up as a limited company, with members signing a membership contract detailing their responsibilities to the club and other members.
I've got a few interested people, at a guess I'd say I've got five solid members lined up just from my sounding people out, but it'd be interesting to see what people from the wider community think about the plan.
I'd definitely be interested to see what ideas people have or problems they can forsee.
Thanks for reading the essay!
Guy.

Mainly looking for a front offside brake caliper as ours is damaged. Aside from that I'm after shocks. I think the rest will be good enough to drag itself through an MOT then I can get a proper look at it while it's rolling. We've done a load of welding on it, so the body is nice and sound, if a bit dented!
I'll drop him a message, I checked out the mvbrumbybrat forum but it looked a bit dead.

Can anyone with any experience point me in the right direction of what would be a (relatively) simple swap, if any exists at all?
I'm currently dealing with a Brat that needs a fair bit of work and I'm considering trying to pick up a Forrester or something similar to swap the drivetrain from. I'm hoping if I put in the work now I'll be able to benefit from parts being more available in the future. Plus it'll be a hell of a lot faster, which is always a bonus!
I've seen the blue one on here, but there isn't much in the way of technical info, and I'm not sure how much was transferred from the donor aside form the engine.

Hi all,
I'm specifically after a front offside brake caliper, but I'm generally looking for a lot of other parts as well. Finding it quite tough tracking anything decent down!
Anyone got anything knocking about?

Are you going to keep the original brakes from the Brat?
I only ask because I'm after a front offside caliper and I'm struggling to find one. If you're not, I'd be interested to know what you're using as I'm thinking of updating what I've got so that parts will be easier to find in future.

I've had a few searches, but I don't seem to be able to find anything recent about where you guys get your sexy banded steels from.
I saw the thread about Boston Engineering, good thing I read until the end, for £80 I had my phone in my hand already!
I did message JamesP, but had no reply, is he still doing them? I've got a set of 10" mini wheels I want taken up to 6" diameter.
