Gauge refurb kit including new chrome bezels to convert from black. Not cheap They will look good - Amazes me what can be obtained for cars that have good spares support Small british company makes the parts. Most the main specialists don't supply so had to hunt about, finding British Gauge. And where a specialist did supply, were way more expensive. x2 5" garages plus x4 2" gauges plus gaskets. They didn't do a bezel for the 2.5" clock so the hunt continues

Sounds like a distinct possibility, I think I'd be tempted by the solid state replacement. EDITFound a Lucas manual in my files that covers the 4TR (among others) if you want it you can download it from here LINKYVery useful...thanks for the manual jimi. I pulled the regulator which suggests it's had a replacement as some point back in the 80's - non-adjustable. SNG barrett supply new ones with modern/solid state internals. Will check them out at the NEC tomorrow

the needle on that gauge equated to 15.3V across the battery. the 4TR external regulators are a known problem and new solid state version are available for about £35. However, i found out yesterday that the original regulators are adjustable. Seeing as the alternator has been refurbed, the VR may have been turned up to compensate for a tired alt.. more investigation needed.

Overcharging....so assuming the 4TR external regulator has gone.

Afternoon all, firstly, big apologies to both ChasR and RetroWarwicK. I didn't receive or see notifications that you had replied. This is doubly frustrating because it looks like I ignored your replies, but also because both would have been very much of interest!! I am still looking though, if anyone has, or knows of anything. Best Regards, Craig. cool beans i've got a 1982 honda cb250 super dream. complete but a project. was a runner but not used for a few years. has a spare bike's worth (less frame/forks) of parts with it.. logbook in my name. £400. plan was to 'cafe tracker' it doing a spoked wheel conversion etc. its tucked away for a rainy day project but open to it being rehomed. Might have a 500c kawasaki project. Engine runs, logbook etc. Would be circa £250. I'd have to get some more details as it's in our shared storage.

That pic in the previous post also shows the alternator refitted. It was refurbed back in Dec 21 and just fitted last week.
In other news, I pulled back the left hand steering rack gaiter to check for play. I think this can be shimmed.

To follow this up, I bought the halfords alloy low entry one. Got it with a trade discount for £100. Very nice kit and handy halfords guarantee.

Still looking? I've heard there's a pimlico shell resting on a shipping container up in Scotland. Newton Stuart I believe.
