... Point of discussion, although I have no real enthusiasm for old engines, what worried me was seeing only one young lad getting down and dirty with his own tiny traction engine. All the other engines were being tended to by older guys as described before the last photo. Will this old traditional engineering simply die out through lack of interest and enthusiasm in 20/30 years?? Have you seen how expensive those little Lister static engines are? I'd love some but can't really justify the cost. Maybe when all these rich old people lose interest I could buy a couple

I'd always wondered why there was a funny looking dogleg at the back of the exhaust pipe, apparently it's to help with that problem. Those flaps are a 'clearance bargain' at Rimmers at the moment if you need some replacements.

I can't offer any advice on veneering but have you considered hydro-dipping? (I think there's a few names for it)
I'd imagine it'd be a lot cheaper although I think the quality of the printed material can vary a lot.

I wear high waisted flares yet my Rover is very low... somewhere out in the universe the turbulence will have opened a wormhole.

Excellent Hope it's behaving. I've just remembered that I've got a fairly good history file for this car somewhere, I'll try to find it this weekend.

Yeah the wing is matt-ish, not by design but when I got it the lacquer had gone cloudy so I tried to tidy it up with a rattlecan clearcoat blowover. It could do with a polish really, either to make it shiny or polish off the extra clearcoat.
It wasn't meant to be 'taken off the road', I just bought more cars and stopped using this one. There was literally nothing wrong with it when I stopped using it.

PM'd Moving it around the drive at the weekend reminded me what a good looking car it is, I feel pretty bad that I let it fall into disrepair. I have decided I'd rather make time for it than scrap it but if someone wants to fix it that would be great

SOLD! 1996 Rover 800 Vitesse Sheffield £350Sadly I don't have the time to dedicate to getting this one back on the road. It served me reliably for over a year but it has been parked up for about 18 months now. Still starts (with a jump), runs and drives and I can nearly guarantee it's only a few days work from an MOT. It has the later coil-pack T16 turbo engine and LSD gearbox, both of which are tip-top and on relatively low miles (89k I think). The Recaro interior is in good condition, although I'd been storing a set of wheels on the back seats and they seem to have left a depression. Hopefully that'll sort itself out. It has been damp inside so it has a certain smell about it at the moment. In general the exterior is a bit scruffy, the paint is pretty swirled and the bumper brackets have warped. It's completely rust free bar the patch shown on one of the arches. As far as I know it needs: Brake discs and pads to be fitted - the parts are included. New tyres (it's been sat on them flat) - a set of nearly new budgets that are very very nearly the right size can be included at no cost. A new battery - £39 from Eurocarparts. That's it! It would of course break for more but I'd rather not be responsible for it's death. It will need to be trailered away as it has no MOT. I've found Shiply useful and surprisingly cheap for transporting cars in the past. I'll listen to offers but bear in mind we-scrap-any-car.com websites have offered £180 for a hassle free collection. I also find it very difficult to sell cars so please don't upset me further

It's a bit of drive up to Sheffield, but I've got a coil-pack 800 with good history and only 80k miles. It's a complete car at the moment, don't know if that's of interest?

Impressive work as usual Can I interest you in a FOC 'horn' and 'beacon' button from a police dashboard I bought on ebay recently? They fit where the electric mirror controls would be? I only wanted the binnacle.

Flippin eck! Your not-hanging-aboutness is inspirational. I will get my Vitesse's engine rebuilt on my shore break this time.
Going back a few pages, where did you get the hub adapters for the jag brakes?

I'm not sure you've not done the proverbial in your own chips there - that's got to be the best looking wedge I've ever seen! Unless there's something really astounding as yet unposted, you may have won in the first post! That said, I'd settle for the 2-door Range Rover with the wedge on a trailer behind it. Not if I het that combo first! Sounds spot on.
