This made me laugh like an immature 13 year old I've been enjoying the updates, but was sorry to hear your job news, enjoy the trip and focus on that for now. After all, no-one gets to the end of things and thinks 'I wish I'd spent more time at work and less time making memories and meeting great people on awesome road trips'. Interesting fact…. Beaver is a town, and probably generates a load of money from juveniles like us. Same as Uranus fudge factory. These are the memories for sure. Road Trip stuff…..

Sunday was Baseball day for the whole extended family. Never been to a game. Interesting. But before that, I got to chat to Andy, a racing friend of Adam. He is busy training his 8 year old son in a scientific way to drive sprint cars. This sort of dedication and drive always amazes me over here. Everything he does is for Ryder’s racing career. Neat truck too…… video to follow. Well……. Video loaded fast. Tyler came around too. He is family. Love the T-shirt, if you know the back story. Dennis with the Storm Trooper. Home built, registered as a pistol. Because America.

After dinner Dennis drove me, Debbie back, and we stopped for frozen yogurt. I tend to settle for just plain vanilla and caramel sauce. It was really good. And cheaper. Dennis settle for the Banana Split. Great choice it seems.

Still on Saturday the 2nd September. Dennis and I headed out for breakfast, followed by a run to go collect a load of spares in the Blazer for the Chevelle he is doing. Speaking to him, it seems that he will be way beyond 10k just in new parts for the, build, that does not include labour, paint, parts car, used stuff and more stuff getting bought as he builds it. Parts guy has this. Also saw this display along the way. Rest of the day spent with Dennis,,doing stuff. Evening we went to St Louis to a very upmarket (expensive) restaurant for his grandson’s birthday dinner. Everyone for themselves. I have little to say. Not me. I had a fillet steak. It was very good.

Rian Not sure what to say on 'open' forum other than B*****ds ... Goes to show. Contractor means just that. My accounts are some of the only ones growing, against the trend, but I am still disposable. One of the headcount guy will get my accounts and suddenly look great.

The day I have feared for the last two years came today.
I have lost my job in another restructuring. Not much I can do about it.
Will worry about it nonstop now but do nothing while in America..…. I will be told formally next week when I get back to work.
But will just have to get my Sh!t together when back and go find another job.
Yup….. Sucks.

The radio is not quite double-DIN but the nice thing, as you say, is that it is essentially a flat plate mounted behind the dash trim. The stock radios are.. to be polite, utter trash. You do well with an aftermarket- plus the FM pre-emphasis will be correct and the AM will tune in the correct intervals. Not that there's much AM in the UK any more. Oh, when you're out and about at night and stop somewhere on this journey, click the radio in the car to AM and tune up and down the dial. It's surprising how much you can pick up... Phil I have not had the opportunity to do that, though I was out in,a Ford F150 Lightening EV and drove it last night. I it pretty impressive. So now I need to orchestrate this. It is not a “sport steering wheel “ as fitted, but I like the idea of putting things back to standard. Let’s see what happens. Shipping label on a pizza box. My kinda posting. Thw dash plate is in the US, you could save some wedge on shipping by buying it while you are there, provided it is correct for your needs Ttfn Glenn Good idea. Radio fitting kit - go for it purpose built fittings are (nearly) always better than a 'bodge' ! don't re-invent the wheel if you don't have to ! Like the steering wheel 👍 Yes, indeed. Got this message from a guy on www.astrosafari.comGrizz, If you have any interest, I have a goid condition stock Chevy steering wheel for an Astro. Doesn't match my GMC... Yours for taking if you want it. So now I need to orchestrate this. It is not a “sport steering wheel “ as fitted, but I like the idea of putting things back to standard. Let’s see what happens. Looks exactly the same as on my 92 K1500. I actually want an aftermarket one! Orchestrated. Without even trying. Thanks to the kindness of people.

I don't prefer the standard stuff very often, but in this case I'd go for the stock wheel. Looks nicer to me. for once a nice standard looking steering wheel for once a nice standard looking steering wheel for what it is worth, I'll second that a much better look IMHO please keep the updates & pics coming I also think that the stock wheel looks better. I like a good sports steering wheel. But this one to me is just not right. I am hoping to get the whole thing looking a bit less ghetto. We shall see.
