Yikes... First engine warning light yesterday... I have installed bimmerlink on my iPad, alas the obd plug-in does not arrive until later today. I popped my £10 reader on and it worked, vanos solenoids. Google and YouTube showed me what, where ,and what to do... So I did, remove, clean, blast all the internals with brake cleaner then book them up to a battery to activate while more blasting with brake cleaner. Once that was done I lightly oiled them and the O rings and reinstalled. Engine light still on... Had a bit of a thrash, ignition on/off a few times... Light OUT...😁 Car starts quicker and feels crisper.

Thanks Chas....😄... Anyway, I had a good play with the sport button today, self shifting and full auto. Until it gets into it's stride in auto I reckon my 2.0 Alfa diesel would beat it out of corners. But nippier with me shifting. Steering is heavier, feels good... In the city I'll just stick with normal. My central heating dial has a bit missing just above the on light, it irks me, a forum member sent me the complete unit for £35, fitting is easy, now I don't keep looking at the 'hole'. This morning the car was a block of ice... Don't you love pillarless doors and ice, couldn't get in and no auto-drop, ... I had to scrape both Windows round the edges then run my fuel card (don't work there anymore😁) between the rubber and glass, managed to get in.

Thank you, it is possibly Monaco Blue, I can find no sticker anywhere. It's usually on the B post on BMW's but they have been known to put them on the firewall, radiator mount and even in the boot. If you can't find it I'll be on the laptop in my van tomorrow so I'll have a look at the Octoral software and see what blues were available on that model for that year. That should narrow it down. Love these 6's and I reckon this would be the only BMW that would tempt me over an old S-Class. Confirmed as Monaco Blue and Dakota Leather 😇

Love the Frankenstein rear guard. Back in the 70's I had my dt125 twinshock, a mate had a ts250, it felt like the fastest thing on earth when he let me ride it.

Always liked the look of these, and they can be had for very little money indeed which makes them a constant source of temptation! Often wondered if the straight 6 might feel a little underpowered compared to the V8 models but in a more relaxed GT car, I suspect it doesn't really matter You'll offset the lack of power by having a far more reliable engine. The N62 V8s are dog poo. Speaking of, I had a 650i, lovely car to drive, when it wasnt giving me PTSD with the warning BING BONG noise and the near constant failures. The 630i is the one to have, and that one looks lovely in that spec. What colour is it? . Thank you, it is possibly Monaco Blue, I can find no sticker anywhere.

I think I may grow to love it, time will tell.

First proper drive, different... In a good way, very smooth, comfortable, makes a good noise, certainly nippy. Work starts tomorrow, both dipped beam bulbs, (came with car) access via wheel arch, polish head/fog lights... Try and work out iDrive...🤔

My first BMW, done lots of miles in a z3 and x3 but they were not mine. I wanted auto, petrol and coupe, seems I chose well. Collecting on Saturday next, previous owner has had it quite well maintained... But keeping it clean in and out has not been done. First jobs will be... Both dipped beam bulbs, remove the flapping clear film wheel arch protectors and fit new ones. Remove both door mirrors for sand and paint, front seat belts are really discoloured, I may spray dye them black. I see the car as a modern, luxury Alfa gtv, I have had 8 of those, my expectations are high.

ChasR, thank you very much, it is an E63, a grown-up luxury Alfa gtv as I see it. I have used the goo&compressor at the side of the M6 on a 911 when I was a recovery driver, it did work... But I don't like it. I have an old foot pump somewhere, I'll put a small bag together with that, one of those kits and a few basic tools, that should do the job, thanks again.

Anyone have first hand experience using them and able to recommend a brand to go for.
I just bought a 630i and it has nothing at all in the boot... Or anywhere to put anything 😔

I know the stone noise well, making very good time down the Black Mountains in my 146ti, the noise started, and what a noise, sounded terminal, nursed it down and found a car park, 10 minutes later I was laughing.

Jules came in Wednesday and said her car is 'squeaking', upon questioning it is going over speedbumps. I took the car out and did left wheels over then right then both... Nothing at all squeaked. I did notice a very noticeable screech going round left handers... Got the car home, n/s front wheel off, moved backing plate away from the disc, tried a left turn, no noise. Just asked her now if the car sounds better, apparently it is still squeaking over speed bumps. But it bloody well isn't. I asked her if she had noticed the loud screech going round left hand corners... No. I give up. 😁
