loving the 'mog. There are some serious motors there, I would swap body parts for most of them. But it was the Unimog that stood out the most! So nice to see one not being thrashed to death dragging logs out of forests, although I'm not sure I like the alloys. I knew there were loads of older cars in Malta, but not that so many are in preservation, and lorries too! Fantastic.

Edit: Read up on the rules.. Since Dec. 2009, any car driving in sweden, no matter the country, are required to have winter tires. If you are towing, the hanger needs winter tires too My bad. We went in Oct/Nov 09, so just scraped in. Sir, I stand corrected

You need winter tires. This is not a "its best to have them on snow" but a necessity, as its illegal not to have winter tires, and the fines are -BIG- if you don't have them. Strictly speaking it's not illegal if you are from the UK, but a set of snow chains must be carried by law. BUT- Having done just that, I would really, really, really recommend fitting winter tyres. I thought "Yeah I should get them, but I'm on a budget and I have chains." I was wrong, and spent ages with numb hands faffing with chains, feeling a tit while everyone was tucked up in their cozy Volvos. Probably thinking "****ing tourists". As for ditches, digging an 18 foot camper van out of one ain't fun. Edit- Will the car go on the Caddy or a trailer? The toll for the bridge is quite high for large vehicles (around 70 euros for our van 2 years ago) so may also be high if towing a trailer?

Sounds daft, but check any floor mats/carpets haven't got rumpled up under the pedal, sounds as if the clutch isn't clearing properly. Is it hydraulic or cable?

Just do it! If you wire them to come on with main beam, make sure you use a relay. If they come on with main beam they can only be a certain wattage (60 each??) or they should be 'for off road use only'. Beware of plastic covers as thay tend to get a bit melty if you forget to take them off Way back when my mates and I thrshed around in Minis one lad had a stern talking to by a copper as he had 4 massive spots wired in with main beam, he had to put a switch in so he could turn them off. Make sure you mount them fairly solidly. For instance, I just bolted mine to the front bumper of my Mini, and they bounced around and vibrated something chronic. ;D Oh to be 17 again

If no coolant then no worries as nothing to freeze and expand.
Dumping the water out of radiators over night used to be a common way of avoiding frost damage on lorries.

[Looks like Albert Looms in Derby. I was thinking the same.. They always seem to have interesting stuff in the cage, but I have no idea what happens to it.

Als not a "pathetic" pump, just not as crude as the bosch[/quote] You are right, it serves it's purpose just fine. I just wish I could run on SVO Thanks for your input chaps- if I try it (and I think I will), I will mix it with derv, see what happens and start increasing the mix. I will report back here slightly less poor, or with a "how easy is it to change an injector pump" question.

Right, just a quick one (hopefully). I have a 306 d'turbo with a XUD and a weedy, pathetic Lucas pump. I Know it's not to good to start banging SVO in it, but what about 'bio diesel' sold (cheaper than dino-juice) at some filling stations? My google-foo is weak, and all I can figure is it should be thinner than veg oil (ethanol content?), I may need to put a shot of 2 stroke oil in it, but it may well rot all my fuel pipes and seals, before causing nuns to have kittens etc.. Anyone tried it? Or know the answer? I have trawled through pages and pages of biodiesel forums, but am none the wiser. Thanks in advance- have some revolting, stinking, lovely diesel stench.

Arc/stick welder £35 Torque wrench £15 Re-chargable LED inspection lamp £10 +loads of other garage-type stuff but I was in a hurry. Not sure I would trust a 15 quid torque wrench to be accurate though...

...and any car that has sequential turn signals.
This has to be the most pointless but most cool thing ever, and on something so ordinarily dull as indicators... sorry, turn signals

I was offered nearly £200 for a Punto a couple of weeks back as scrap, I guess anything 'worth' less than £150 just gets weighed in. Not so long ago you had to pay them to take dead cars away..
edit- WHS^^

MG Bs have knock on wires, you would probably be better looking for some wires with Ford pcd and adding spinner 'hubcaps' if thats the look you are after? Need more info (and pictures) tbh..
