Brilliant mate, was a pleasure to meet you both, and glad you both enjoyed it. Loved Alfie's face giggling every time he heard the quad/bogie/lawnmower go past! Or when he dropped his biscuit and you had to pick em up, proper cheeky giggle then! Haha Sorry about the music on the Sat (I blame Greg and Sheryl) lol 😁. Such an awesome weekend. And your car is the curse word! He did love it mate great to meet you too, no worries on the music mate he was dancing anyway lol

Do the 205 coilovers bolt on then? I've had one of these for over a year now. Its pretty much the same but it's been run into the ground, is lucas pump and has all sorts of electrical gremlins. I got hold of a bosch pump version in better nick to use instead. Bought some 207 steels to band then a few days later some guy posts pictures of a green 405 estate on banded 207 steels lol.. Canned that idea and was thinking of these instead.. Now that ideas out the window too lol.. Must be somthing else on there! Doesn't really matter right now anyway tbh as after a few weeks of driving the bosch one the engine mount came adrift and its now sitting needing attention I don't have time to give it! Good to see more 405s getting the love tho. One of the best 90s estates there is. They are very underrated mate, mines a Lucas pump but touch wood so far I have had no problems . 306 coilovers fit you have to mod the antiroll bar link and use the 405 top mounts. I'm looking into air for the front at the mo , should be on in the next few weeks, don't want to slam it completely, and make it uncomfortable. So going to try and fabricate air struts on a tight budget !

Glad you and your son enjoyed it. Loved your 405, funny thing is my avant is also a N Reg estate and I thought know one would look twice at a mid 90s estate car so I didn't bring it and came in my lasses BMW instead. Mine is still standard but you have shown with some nice wheels and lowering your can transform an estate car into something cool. Have you got any more pics of it and details of what you have done to it? Thanks Steve have put a readers rides thread up today but basically I've lowered it, changed the bumper for a gtx one removed the rear wiper, rolled the arches and put the wheels on. Just kept it simple really mate 😊

Really liked this and got some pics but was too busy being rained upon or hiding from stalker Mr Blobby to have a chat. We all reckoned it would look ace two tone to match the front bumper. Thanks Phil ah yes good old mr Blobby did give us a bit of a fright to be fair! Funny you should say that two tone may be on the cards !

Front looks mint! I'd lift the back an inch and it'll be fine, you'll be able to use it as an estate too Still got those 106 steelies? Cheers mate ! Steelies have sold I'm afraid. To be fair I had a hell of a lot of weight in it on the way down and it was fine

No idea how I missed your car. Is there a readers rides thread on it? I've been trying to do a 405 for the last year but whenever I think i've got a good idea what I need to do one appears out of the woodwork and i go back to the drawing board.. Good cars tho! Thanks Slater had a few Passat estates before but fancied doing something different ! Have put a readers rides thread up today..

I'm glad you came, yours was one of the first cars I saw when I walked into the campsite on Friday and I thought "we must be doing something right, that turned up". Glad your boy was able to enjoy the show too. Our camp site is small so it is hard to make a family camping area, we'll have a think on it though all part of being smalls with overwhelming emotions! Well that is you and Mich, but what about the kids? Loved seeing you two btw, it made me so happy to have you at the show. Hope to see you and your palatial new garage with house attached at some point. Thank you Admin. The diversity of the cars was eye opening I've been to plenty of car shows etc but this one stands out for sure. To be fair on the Friday Alfie slept from 9-7! so the noise wasn't really an issue and I'm sure people must have heard him on the Saturday . And thanks for the compliments on the Pug. A brilliant weekend with awesome cars and great people.

Saw you guys around over the weekend and thought 'good to see some others with their kids in tow'. Ours had a few moments too, all part of being smalls with overwhelming emotions! 405 was looking top too :-) Cheers mate, true it's a bit of a gamble sometimes with kids lol but we had an ace time.

Awesome. Pleased you had a good weekend both of you. I was in two minds about bringing my eldest (4yo) but decided against it at the last minute. For what it's worth, your pug was in my top 5 cars from the show. Ross Thanks Ross and yes we had a great time plus the bonus of the Pug being like so much

Seeing as it got a lot more attention than I ever imagined at The Gathering I thought I would post some pics and info up on here. Picked it up locally from an old couple for a song , full service history 1.9td with only 120 thou, needed brakes and a washer pump for the mot other than that no problems. Decided to see if I could get the Dimma wheels on so first job was getting lows which turned into a nitemare. Had to take the rear beam off as the bars were stuck solid! Rolled the rear arches with a heat gun an arch roller and lots of patience turned out well in the end, front springs from a 205 coilovers or possibly air on the horizon to get the front down a bit more. Laquer peal was bad in the roof and bonnet, so rubbed it down and sprayed some base coat on. To be honest I quite like the Matt look so may stay. Future plans more lows and tidy the bodywork up a bit more. Big thanks to Kev from Wales for the help with the axle and tyre swapping!

First time for us this year, have always wanted to go but planning for a weekend with Alfie takes some doing meds etc.
We arrived on Friday eve, took about 3 hours to get from North wales drove into the camp and set up the tent etc, well set out and the guards were very helpful . To be fair it's not easy with any kids going away on a camping weekend especially when you have to deal with the weather too,but we coped fine noisy at night but that was to be expected, didn't fase him tho some of you may have heard him late sat night having a bit of a moment, thanks to the Scottish guy who popped in the tent to ask if we were ok never found out who you were tho !
Just wanted to thank everyone, I never felt out of place Alfie does make some funny noises and wobbles around a bit but there was no funny looks from anyone.
The 405 went down well too which was nice had a lot of comments on it.
Sunday and the hill climb was great he loves loud cars and was giggling and getting very exited.
I've been to a couple of car shows etc and people do tend to give a lot of funny looks ..
Not at The gathering tho, so a big thank you to all involved was a great weekend and will def be going next year all be it probably not in a tent!
