This could be the sort of thing I'm after for the girlfriend. Does it have PAS? What sort of MPG does it get? Any idea if the cambelt has recently been done.
Is the paintwork ok? having owned a few oldish red cars they've always suffered with dulling paintwork!!
Cheers!

Finally picked up the new car, so this old girl will need to go soon. It'll probably end up on ebay next week if there's no interested over the next few days.
I've sorted out the front tyre so it's now definately legal - a used one off a mate, but it's got about 3mm or so of tread. I can supply a really nice set of GTi pepperpot alloys with excellent tyres if need be, but that'll cost you a bit more! Also acquired a new fuel filter housing so I will fit that at some point to replace the bypassed, leaky one currently on there!
Give me a shout if you want any more info!
Cheers

TBH it doesn't feel like it's done 307k miles - engine runs perfect, ride is great, gear change is pretty precise (for a 205) and a lot of the major jobs have been done by myself!! The main 2 problems I can think of is that it needs a new front tyre as it's right on the limit, and there's a knocking from the front suspension (I reckon it's the TCA bushes, but the TCAs are only about £20 each), but it's been doing that for 15k miles without getting any worse! My girlfriend is still doing 30 miles a day in it without any problems! I think it's a Lucas pump - it's a late spec engine so it's the one with the fuel filter housing on top of the thermostat housing. MoT is until 19th April, tax till end of March (I think). I could sort out a new MoT if need be though. Dunno where greenhams is, but the pic is outside my Dad's garage in New Milton

Finally got round to buying a new car for the missus, so this 205 will probably have to go soon.
Since my last post it's also had a replacement alternator and a set of new front pads.
£250 or a sensible offer. Anyone interested?

Sorry it's not really retro, but it's sale will help fund other slightly more interesting projects I got this car free from a mate earlier in the year when my other half was depserate for a car to get her to work. It had been off the road for about 6 months and needed a bit of tidying. I put it in for an MoT and it went through near enough straightaway. Since then I've done loads of work to keep it going and to tidy it up, and as such it now drives pretty well for a high mileage 205 (304k to be precise!!). It's definitely not perfect, but it does it's job and does 50+mpg in the process. Since we've had it I've done the following work: New CV boot Stripped and cleaned front brakes New water pump Mis-matched tyres sorted out (inc 2 newish ones put on) Replacement washer pump Replacement wheel trims from a 106 Patched up downpipe New rear exhaust rubber New cambelt New crank oil seal and cover gasket New glow plugs New glow plug timer New clutch kit New driveshafts New diff oil seals Bodged replacement fuel filter (to be done properly soon!) New alternator belt GTi steering wheel fitted New radiator New fan switch Dturbo 5 door interior fitted (velour bucket seats and 4 door cards) Replacement aerial fitted Replacement PAS steering ram fitted A couple of oil/filter changes Quite an extensive list, so although it's done interstellar mileage it has plenty of new parts! Also taxed and MoT'd for quite a while (probably about 5 months of both I guess). If anyone is interested let me know and I can give you a bit more info. Not gonna want a huge amount, but I reckon I've spent getting on for £400 on just parts so would like to get at least some of the money back!! Here a couple of pics: That's from when I put the MoT on it, so it's changed slightly since then, but you get the idea. And this one is the interior I put in about a month ago. Much nicer than the old collapsing seats as they're basically GTi seats in a nice velour material (apologies for the messy floor!) Little diesel hatchbacks seem to be quite popular on the bay, so once the new car is picked up and proves itself I'll chuck this bad boy on there to see what happens (unless someone gets to me first). Oh, and the car's in Southampton. Cheers

Mines an '88 F reg 5 door. Plenty of new parts including cambelt, water pump, rear gas dampers, polybushes on tie rods and ARB mountings, and a few uber rare Volvo accessories too (which may or may not be sold with the car). No tax or MoT, but is currently having a bit of welding done to make sure she is solid and will then be put through an MoT. Here's how she looks: Can also supply a B230 2.3 engine, which bolts straight in. My original plan was to run this on twin 45s for some mega power, but I got an SD1 instead and my attention turned to that. Give me a shout if you want any more info.

You'll want a 340 then if you only want a 1.7. I've got a 360 GLT for sale, but thats a 2.0 like all 360s

I should be able to get them off, but maybe not for a week or 2 now. If that's ok let me know.
The Volvo engine is the single cam 8 valve head

The STDT alloys do have tyres, but they quite old and perished. No speedo cable I'm afraid for the SD 1. Sure you don't want a prop? No use to me as mine's a manual!!

PM replied to.
Steering wheel is provisionally sold, but I have the bosses still. I'm not entirely sure it's for a Metro, that's just what i was told, but you're welcome to come and have a look, or I can take a few photos.
