Lets clear up car terms: "Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence. "Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

I can not believe this. Ive now advertised it 3 times on e-bay. Each time the winning bidder either fails to make contact, or pulls out before coming down to pick it up.After offering it to the next bidders etc theve always had cars by then. Ive sold a fair few cars on e-bay and have never had anything like this before. I wouldnt mind, but no one has even turned up to look at it, let alone take it away. Its actually a really nice original car. I'm mot'ing it tomorrow. Its already got 2 months MOT, but I'm hoping with 12 months on it and a sticker in the window for £450 I might be able to sell it locally. Ive given up with E-bay on it.

This could be the sort of thing I'm after for the girlfriend. Does it have PAS? What sort of MPG does it get? Any idea if the cambelt has recently been done.
Is the paintwork ok? having owned a few oldish red cars they've always suffered with dulling paintwork!!
Cheers!

The cambelt was changed according to the sticker at 102000 miles. Mpg wise its about 40mpg, however doesnt have PAS. The tyres are only 185's however do feel heavier compared to my variable rate PAS daily I have. As for the paintwork other than the few rust bits where they all go the paint is lovely and bright. Since ive owned it it hasnt needed polishing.

Well we just phoned the insurance company before I offered you some money and they're insisting that the car needs to have a Thatcham alarm and be garaged before they'll even consider insuring my other half!! There's no way we'll be spending the value of the car on an alarm, and there's no way it'll be getting my SD1's spot in the garage!! So they'll be no XR2i for us We're both a bit gutted TBH. Stupid insurance companies!! Good luck with the sale though.

An update. We relisted once again on e-bay and the person again messed me about,3 no shows, countless promises, countless excuses. Ive contacted E-Bay and they have confirmed the winning bidder each has the same ip address, but cant do anything about it as that still doesnt mean its the same person . It has MOT until Feb 6th, and Tax until the end of this month. I have now put it in for an MOT, but it failed on the front wishbone bush ( I can do these easily and I know they are only £18 for a whole wishbone), but also a thin strip of welding between the floorpan and the sill. Basically it needs a right angle piece made up as the join between the two has corroded. Other than that the underneath is in good condition. Problem is I don't own a welder and bearing in mind its the month after Xmas I cant afford to pay for a garage to weld it. Also its got to be gone by the end of the month. As such if anyone comes along with £250 its yours. Easy money maker if you can weld, or even just have somewhere to store it.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Hey Got your PM too. Problem i have and have just realised datewise etc is that i am Away this weekend 'oop north' and wouldent be able to make it down to you until next weekend which is after the Tax Expires. Is the car currently insured? I'm wondering if it could be retaxed if needed before the MOT runs out etc etc ( i would of course not expect you to foot the bill for tax of course. ) Other then that, let me chat with the wife and sort some funds if we can and see what we can do.. otherwise a friend of mine could be seriously interested. cheers Lee

Looking at it, its Mot'd until February 6th. That means you could pick it up the weekend after and tax it before taking it away? I do live opposite a Post office thats open on Saturdays?
