That looks tidy. PAS too being a later one, take a lot of effort out of parking the blessed things (that venerable XUD is a hefty old donkey). 205s don't generally suffer from tinworm unless they've been dinged/aftermarket panels fitted. I've had half a dozen of 'em in the past. Just passed on a '96 P-plated 205 1. Mardi Gras 3dr with 63000 on it, one owner and looking like it had just rolled off the forecourt 19 years ago. Garage wanted £575 for it, but I prefer my XUDs turbo'd these days so I stuck with my trusty 306DT. Still plenty about if you have a bit of patience.

'95 306 XTDT. Paid £350 for it a year ago off here, since then I've done 9000m in it, other than servicing and a rad/cambelt/water pump when I first bought it it's needed nothing. Had to have a side repeater bulb for the MOT, not even an advisory other than that. Now on 150,000m, pulls like a train, uses no oil/water and does anything between 45 and 55mpg depending on how hefty your right foot is. And runs on veg if you want.
Plan to run it till it dies and get another. 306s are brilliant.

Most of these items cropped up in my long life (even the grandkids have twigged on to me not being 21 again). The first one is a TELULOG from late 50s and most of the 60s - put the amount of fuel into the top reading and current mileage in the lower and you could work out your fuel consumption. The second I believe is something to do with an aero car ferry where the car entered the front of the plane through a large lift up flap. Third one I'm 100% on being a soldier in the 60s and 70s - it's a field dressing issued to every soldier to use mainly for serious wounds in the field. Spot on about the TELULOG. I think I've still got the one I liberated from my great-grandfather's Prefect when he died in 1973 (I was nine years old then....you do the math) in a box of ephemera in the loft. Silver City Airways were a fairly large British air carrier, extant from just after WW2 until their merger with Channel Air Bridge in 1962, becoming British United Air Ferries until 1967, and British Air Ferries from 1967 until 1993 when they became British World Airlines...which went out of business at the end of 2001. Silver City were best-known for their cross-Channel air car ferry service, which operated from 1948 until 1962 from Lympne Aerodrome in Kent to Le Touquet in France. Lovely car, by the way!!!!

Gung-Ho Rally Team stalwarts Paul King and Gary Whittington doing a VERY wet SS9 at last year's South Downs Stages. Worth watching for the almighty 100mph tankslapper near the end.
Super event, if you've never been to Goodwood before you can almost feel the ghosts of racing's past.

Bargain. Even if it hadn't had a new lump, 144k is nothing for a venerable XUD9T. The one in my 306DT has done 148k, pulls like a train and uses no oil/water.
I've had two Xants and love them. You'll get a pillow-soft ride and 50mpg if you're cruising, they also go surprisingly well when you're pressing on a bit. Handling-wise they will run rings around a contemporary Mondeo/Cavalier, and they are brilliant mile-munchers if you're on a long trip.
Dependable workhorse with years of life left in it.

Couple of car park spots from last Saturday's Rallyday. Slammed Arosa on P-slots. Doom Maroon poverty-spec 205.

That's a tidy lil' 205. Don't be put off by the mong-matic gearbox in these, they go really well and still do almost 40mpg knocking about. 1600cc in a light car makes for sparky performance even with the slushbox.

Glad you got the full-fat 1.3...when I met the woman who's now SWMBO in '95 she had a near-new 1.1i Fruscati which despite having done only about 15k made a noise not unlike someone dropping a bag of spanners down a stairwell and was quite possibly the slowest car I've ever driven. Glad you're keeping it stock, pretty soon all the Mk3/4's will have gone. There are a couple of old giffers near me who've both owned their H/J-plated Mk3s from new and keep them in virtually concours nick. They take them to shows together as well.

Taken at this last weekend's 2CVGB National Meeting at Anglesey Circuit. I owned it in 2009, I never thought I'd see PPJ51X back on the road. I hope it's giving its new owner as much pleasure as I got from it.

Fabulous!!! These vans came with a three-cylinder Perkins P3 diesel engine as standard, which developed just 35-odd bhp from 2.4 litres. Slow ain't the word!!!

If you're intent on a local charity to Shelsley, might I suggest St.Richards Hospice. They do so much valuable work supporting those suffering from cancer (and other life-threatening illnesses) and their families in Worcestershire. A HUGE pat on the back to all who dug deep and contributed either tat or funds, and of course to KFW for organising it. Stuff like this is what keeps RR such a great community.

A great show again, the only problem I had was getting the car trailer into the camp site, but once the paddock gates were opened it was just a simple swing around and straight in. I hate trailers............ You are forgiven for bringing one as it didn't go near the paddock - most tend to arrive there and they are a PITA That's why Dean taxed the Sunbeam especially for RRG.

I may quote and reply to some specific points when I go through the thread fully later, but for now thank you to everyone that came to our show, everyone that went up the hill and to everyone that has been understanding of how big an event this is to move to a new venue! I think that considering the geographical limitations of having an experienced part of the organising team on the other side of the planet up until a week before the show, AND having various RR Event Crew stalwarts away at VW Action (I wonder just how much the lovely Polly's stern looks were missed on the campsite LOL)...AND having what must have been a 60% increase on last year in the amount of cars to get onto the show field.....and ALL at a new venue...... ....nothing short of a magnificent effort, David. Thankyou for making RRG awesome yet again.

We'll feedback to the events team about that... they had eight people there and it seems two of them were an issue, so we'll speak to them when we do a debrief and make sure we have people next year with the correct attitude. I found them all to be very helpful and friendly. They told me where to go, were to be careful of (mud), where the nearest town was, etc. People that arrived late Saturday didn't get bin bags (entry packs). Although TBH thinking about that, we shouldn't need to be given them. Whoever was getting the white Golf, and then the red Polo, intentionally stuck in the mud should be ashamed of themselves. There were no signs in any of the local towns or along the roads for the hillclimb venue or for RRG. It's ridiculously obscure to find and with zero phone signal I couldn't use the satnav on there - I know I wasn't the only person lost in the countryside and although I got directions off a friendly local, there were other locals that were ignorant to some people trying to find their way in. I really, really think there should have been on-site food on Friday. Whether from the club-house or a burger van. The local towns are half an hour away (well, they are in my car anyway) and with entry closed at 10pm... the cafe on-site was delicious when it was open. The combination of tight entry and slippery slope didn't look like fun for any big/low/wide/american cars getting into or out of the campsite. Can't comment on whether anyone else found that but I do have concerns for next year if I bring the Caddy + trailer as planned... Could it happen earlier in summer? The hour less light in the evening was definitely noticeable when trying to pick around the (tighter together) tents. Oh and people not camping on the pathway to the toilets would be good for all concerned. Show was great. Well done on organising that sunshine. I was planning on doing an extension to the 'bluffer's guide' that I posted a few days before the event with a 'how to get there' guide with maps and Google Earth pics to help.....but I forgot all about it. If we're invited back next year I'll knock one up, you weren't the first to not be able to locate it easily. And I know one of the 'mudlarks' personally, as his car ended up on our stand. I had a word on the Sunday about it and have just had another one via Facebook.

Was a bit damp yesterday, as bstardchild points out we have an area to avoid ... no one has been in the club field so it hasn't got churned up, with a bit of a breeze and a dry day today we'll all be good for tomorrow for club field Looks like we may just get away with it weather wise (keep those fingers crossed though, weather gives me sleepless nights!) Met Office forecasts no more wet stuff and for sunshine/temperatures in the high teens later today, with a slightly warmer day tomorrow.

It's in the field next to the club stands, furthest away from the actual hill.

Does anyone know if the 'retro parking' will be hard standing? Thanks No, it's all on grass. The access roads from the main road are all tarmac, though.

It's on a sideslope (the 'hillclimb' bit is a bit of a giveaway LOL) so it does tend to drain downwards. Weather forecast for the weekend is for it to be pretty dry though so you should be fine.
