Well time I introduced one of my projects, this was bought for my son who is 16 next month. Initial plans were to find a MK1 Fiesta however I did not want a full on rebuild and budget was tight so he will have to make do with a mk2
We bought this out of ebay from a guy in Bradford for £220 no tax and test but with 40k genuine miles and full history and 2 owners last for most of it's life. I liked this as it had not been bodges about with looked an honest and genuine car. I hate undoing other peoples work (bodges) Anyways less of the gassing, i'm hoping this is going to be a quick project then I can crack on with my Anglia estate thats been sat a while but thats another thread.
as bought
gotta love the seat covers
Anyways the first job was to give it a good clean and polish and lets see what we were up against.. My lad helped in the process
SO thats was last summer and it was just parked up then while I started to source parts, obtained some sills, wheel arches (inner and outer) and various suspension parts. The front bumper is quite badly bent so if anyone has one cheap let me know. My lad wanted to keep them off but i've said no (nasty dad that I am) strict instructions that it stays standard until he gets a least a years insurance on the back of him (and thats a year away) the only thing i'd like to do is get some wider steel wheels maybe off a later Festa .. He's not happy but we are limited on costs and he will be stuffed enough in insurance without adding to the plight.
SO works start cleaning wheelarchs etc.
and then the task with the rot, i've worked on Festas before and this is a rite sod to get rite as it's 4 layers of metal and the only way to do it right is cut it all rite back..
while i'm working on the back my lad starts on the front suspension with new dampers and springs..
watch this space more to follow when I finish downloading my pics in some sort of order.
