think the ride is dependant on the static sag, if you put the spacer under the spring and not the between the strut and the body and the spacer is more then or really close to the static sag figure it will top out and bang about the place alot over bumps.

on the micra forum there was a guy doing the mongolia charity rally, took advice from a canadian site and machined an ice hockey puck to slide over the strut and sit between the spring and topcup, not sure on the legal side, but lasted the distance!

I'm in Leicester, thing is I've been told these assisters only harden up your suspension, for example for carrying heavy loads etc. They don't actually raise them, spring spacers actually sit on the bottom or top of where the spring sits and therefore raises the suspension They raise it as well, you uncompress the coil and fit a rubber spacer that holds the coils further appart when compressed, i've fitted a few to space cruisers and the like to raise thier soggy arses  but it does also raise the spring rate in the same way chopping a coil off does so if your springt aint too soft they may not be for you ? |

lol, like I said, I forgot to take into account, when that the springs get squished quite a bit once you add the weight of the car on top of them (it was late at night! and the moon was out..and..ermm... yeah!) so yeah, it WOULD work on mcphearson struts - I was just being a tit  I'll go hide back in the corner now... |

Yep just to add insult to injury chairchild it's just been confirmed to me by a guy who makes these for Land Rovers that they can be fitted to mcphearsons lol
Bortaf if you have a look at how the spring assisters are fitted they do not really higher by that much, they are purely used to stiffen up suspension for heavy loads, towing etc. I need to higher 1" so they won't work.
Just to let you know I've got a local guy who is making these for me at a good rate
