Had the rear wheel bearing fail on my mum's corsa. I took the hub off today and the damaged bearing, and the only bit i can't get off is this: Now i assume this bit does come off but it's just siezed on there? Also does this bit come with a bearing kit? As i was planning on cutting it off with a grinder. Thanks in advance

Yes its part if the bearing. You could just swap the 'stub axle' as its only held on by 4 bolts if you feel its damaged

it does look as if theres bits of it smeared into the threads etc - see if it cleans up when you have the bearing off - could try some heat?
ive never done one that bad tho, they usually howl long before they start to break up!

grind a flat in one side, ALMOST all the way through. Gently tap off. Cold chisel at 90' to the axle and smack it one, should crack the bearing and enable removal. Mix the two, grind a grove across the bearing then put cold chisel in the groove and smack it one one i did earlier Trailer wheel seized on the M5 on the way home from Blackpool :/ luckily I had 3 left
