Hycote as well, was £1 from my local cheapie shop when I last got it, covered great and way better than Halfords I found for not running, sagging and blending in.

Hycote again. Probably used at least 30+ cans of the stuff in the last year and it's brilliant.
Goes on nice and evenly, less likely to run, doesn't take long to dry, really nice finish and pretty hard wearing too. And it's less than 1/3 the price of Halfords satin black and even cheaper again than Hammerite.
I'm going to give the ProMatic a go that Matt is on about, but I can get Hycote so readily and so cheaply that it's probably what I'll stick with for the time being. I always keep two to three cans to hand 'just in case' and it is always being called upon....

Does the Hycote cover plastic trim/ bumpers as well as panels? Or are we talking specialist stuff for those areas?

where abouts do u get the hycote from? I get mine from the ultimate tat-emporium: www.rajanis.co.uk/index.phpA staple favourite place of the Area 52 regulars, Rich often runs a pilgrimage up there for those who have never been. Amongst the random stuff that comes back is normally a carrier bag or three full of Hycote paint in various colours/finishes ;D

Awesome, cheers for your input all! I'm going to give this Hycote a try - i've got a can of Hycote grey primer somewhere but i've not used it yet but i'll definitely get some satin black (we all love satin black ) Matt, where do you get that Promatic stuff from?

Simoniz 500ml cans with staff discount where I work are £2.21 per can inc vat ideal! Very good paint covers well, although they do get a bit spitty when low. I suspect that alot of the cheap cans come from the same supplier just with different labels. Makes me wonder why I've not rattle can'd a whole car black yet?

Wilkinsons paint i use on a lot of my stuff. Like any paint its down to the prep and how patient you are. Then there is graffiti paint, stuff such as belton, monster etc. these are thick and can block nozzles so should always use a fat cap, if working on larger areas where you don't want to see splutter or lines.

Yeah i use the same, got mine from ebay, 12 cans for £30 inc postage! I've always personally found it my favorite, less likely to flake when I'm a bit slack on the preperation lol

I've got a metallic black car which was damaged by vandals when it was in the lockup. It has one red door, and a few dents and scratches, and I was thinking about doing the whole lot satin/matt black. I'm not really a fan, but I think it'd make a scruffy car look a bit better, and it'd mean I didn't have to break out the metallic paint and compressor. Whaddaya think?

I like Plasticoat, think it's by Finnigans. Get it from the local Focus, ain't the cheapest, but dries nice with a good finish.

Hycote concentrate, as previously said and also it doesn't end up with grey lines down it after it's rained a few times, in fact the hycote range of paints is very good with good colour matches. I usually get my cans from maccess as they have probably near 200 colours on the shelf but i have found that wilko-motorsave have started stocking them.
