Ive just been going back and forth between those pics trying to see if its a clone or not and that looks like the real deal.
Its bashed about and used looking , Whereas a clone would be to clean and nice. (at least initially) Its also seems to measure up the same in every way. I.e the scuttle to the door measurment. The drop seems the same.. Also the blocked up exhaust hole on the side...

The problem is I didn't put the pics up of the cars final incarnation. The changes were bolt on by the looks but still not sure. The decklid appears to be missing in the "as it is now" pic which might be because it was changed. Matt

ahhhhh strange..... is that the same car tho in your last pics? I only ask as it looks different in a lot of little ways. For example. The distance from the bottom of the door to the bottom of the body. Total lack of exhaust cut out.... things like that?
Is it possible it was just passed off as the same car when infact it was a new one?

I'm in the "real" camp too. Grille shell is shiny black as per the early photos and the rest of the body is red primer which is what it looks like in the last pictures with the different nose. So the grille obviously sat on a garage wall for years. Exhaust hole as rw mentioned. That line of pop studs for the final incarnation's tonneau. Hairpins match and are a bit unusual. I think the hood is "new" as it doesn't have the louvres or the catches (or holes for them) This is the first of your selection that's a little off my radar though. Its certainly familiar but not to the same extent as the others. Thanks for the info! Edit: Oh and slow down! One a day at most please! Eek them out a bit

oh, and I'm in the 'real but backdated' camp same as seth. when you posted the earlier pics further up id have said it was a different car, but the thing that does it for me is the way hes smoothed the body into the chassis rails for improved areodynamics. no two people would have ever done it and got it looking the same.

The one with the extra aero bits might be a different car. I know he built another T but that one was labelled as the first one. Edit: Oh and slow down! One a day at most please! Eek them out a bit I was going to do one a day but the list of cars I want to show is growing daily. Trying to do 3 a day as otherwise i'll end up getting bored before I finish. Matt

I'm certainly finiding it interesting, youve not got a single one id have on my 'list' yet, but saying that I'm not much of one for history, rather outright build credentials. in fact most of what i like is quite new!!
still, itll be interesting to see what else you come up with- ile just have to keep quiet through the fad '70s and billet '80s/'90s lol!!

I've just spent an hour reasearching the early billet cars. Gonna be a few posts on that one lol. The early completely hand made stuff is awesome, I think it only got tacky when it all became 'bolt on billet' as you lose the individuality.
I need some more 50s east coast cars that I can find pics of. Can only really think of Fred Steeles roadster thats famous gonna have to dig some old mags out and have a look.

I've seen the Vern Luce Coupe in the flesh (and billet), it lives here in Australia now and did a round of the major hot rod shows a couple of years ago or so. Amazing car, especially when you consider the time in which it was built. It definitely set a trend with the billet thing. Boyd really knew his stuff back in the day, regardless of how bad he looked on reality TV.

Great bunch of threads, cheers for posting...
If you feel like doing a kustoms run... ;D ;D
Re the debate, seems the original is documented well enough, and potential $$$ value to a museum, might just tempt someone to put effort into making a good repro... I guess the man himself is no longer with us, to say either way, or there'd be no debate.
