I've been restoring all kinds of coin operated stuff for a few years. Done vending machines, bubblegum machines, one armed bandits, even got an old Coke cooler to do sometime in the distant future. My main area is electromechanical pinball machines though.
I've done quite a few over the years, but this is probably the most collectable.
It's a 1965 Buckaroo made by Gottlieb. Any of you who've seen the film Tommy will know why it's so collectable, it's the one Elton John plays in the film.
When I got it, it sorta worked but had a f**kin awful paintjob.
Time to get rid of it
Traces of original paint
Down t'wood
Primer
Splatter effect BEORE stenciling
First coats of new paint
Fully stenciled
Original apron & coin door
Restored apron
Stripping & cleaning playfield
Finished machine
The pinball has had a total mechanical restoration (including cleaning & adjusting 100's of contacts), all new rubbers, bulbs & balls & now plays as good as new.
