Hi everyone, had posted my escort van previously but I had to sell because of family commitments I had the right hump about that. But every mushroom cloud has a silver lining when some lucky last second bidding (really...) bagged me this: As you can imagine it needs a bit of light resto as its been stored since 2004, and then I'm not too sure what to do with it. So let me know what you think. Thanks.

That is superb! As long as its not terminally rotten (rear suspension is normally worst) then they are relatively straightforward cars to work on. I'm assuming its a 1.3 TS?

I have no idea what model it is, a quick search of the chassis number gave me the build date. its got a 1.4 gordini engine and twin choke carb but the bodies not gordini. The dash has a rev gauge and 120 mph speedo (prob out of a different model) Rust wise it needs two small plates on the floor and a general tidy up on the tail gate, drivers sill. Other than the damage to the o/s/r thats about it!

How cool is that?! Did it come with any info on where / when it raced? I'd roll that just as it is (maybe with the lights uncovered... )

Have to agree with benzboy and do the absolute minimum to get it road legal and then run it as a rat look race car, perhaps a new term there...... Looks good though.

is it road registered? years ago i bought a crashed phase two Renault 5 Turbo Cup Car and got ot regestered for the road. it cost ÂŁ25 and the inspector came to me. it was all very easy. the car was MOT'd without a registration number (not registered was put where the reg should go) after it was repaired. the chassis number is my date of birth as i could pick a number out of the blue. it was a Q reg though when finaly registered this is me at Lydden i fear it wont be as easy as it was. but if it's already regestered your laughing

thanks guys! The history of the car is a little vague to be honest. I discovered it in a scrap yard up temple farm in essex about 1 year ago, so being completely over excited about finding it i asked how much the chaps wanted for it. ÂŁ800 was the reply, to be honest that was a little to rich for my tastes and without even bothering to haggle i left! So with the intention of forgetting about it and carrying on with life i found i had to return there for some parts about 1 month later, to my dismay the car wasnt to be seen, i assumed that it had been bought/scrapped and so i marked it in my head as 'the one that got away' and again returned back home in a sulk Anyway, fast forward 1 year and I'm tapping away on my laptop with my favorite online auction site and a random search for cars under ÂŁ400 later i was a little shocked to see the renault glowing away in all its orangeness! So lady luck, a bad titled listing, and ÂŁ310 later i managed to bag a little bit of history. when i picked it up i asked the guys at the yard (it was still there, just hiding in a shed!) where they got it from, they said that someone rang there number and asked for them to scrap an old renault. Its only when they got there that the scrap guy realised what it was, so it ended in the 'keep pile'. It was only when i got it home that i found scrutineering passes in the car dating back to 1986. Anyway, thats my gassing over with!

thanks for the comments people, i had a chance to dig around it today and started to strip the wings off to investigate possible rot... So thats what i was met with, still, a little bit of grinding i was left with this... then i cut out the rot and made a repair panel, then welded it in... thats it so far, i have removed the windscreen (and managed to crack it ) and found holes. i think its time to focus on one bit at a time...

Nice car! IMO that's how a french car with Gordini contents should look like! Cheers, Jan
