These have always intrigued me, and I've always fancied doing a silly roadtrip to buy a nearly new rust free Indian SD1 or Turkish 131 ;D So lets see some pix of them, and get some info too. Anything at all

Don't bother with a new "old" Beetle (a NOB, if you will! Fnar, fnar, fnar!). They aren't the best, they are overpriced and, worst of all, they are "fiddled" with and have newfangled engines with weird injection systems that would get the best of most mechanics and are made of tinfoil.

Gotta agree with whats said by fad up there, a mate of mine bought a new 2000 beetle from mexico, when it was rear ended none of the german vw panels available here would fit it properly, he had to get the stuff shipped in from mexico?? As for cars in this topic, how about the hyundai stella(r)? A mk5 cortina in disguise (which itself was a mk3 and mk4 cortina in disguise) mk5 tina.... hyundai.....

Hindustan Contessa Classic. It's a Vauxhall Victor with an Isuzu motor.

^ Sao Penza. Recycled Mazda 323 and came with rather spiffing whitewall tyres IIRC! ^ Daewoo Espero. Reworked Mk3 Cavalier. Where have all these cars gone now?! ^ Hong Qi CA7220. Slightly remodelled Audi 100 ^ Etsong Lubao CA6400. A Monstro!

This sort of thing interests me, I'd like one just to see how they differ from the original. Have a couple of my favourites - Dacia Denem, the artist formerly known as Renault 12 SEAT Ronda, a modernised (in the loosest possible sense of the word) Fiat Strada.

Best one was the Mk2 Golf that was made in South Africa.
Was it the CTI?

That was the Citi, a lightly developed MkI, and in fairness quite a nice motor

Whilst we are in Brazil.....not really made under licence..... more nicked from a company that was taken over by a larger corporation then facelifted and rebadged. For sale in Brazil on 'Mercado Livre' (Looks like ebay but I don't think it is... for 18400 pesos) about £4500. Not really a qualifier but I just love 'em..... also sold as a Holden Monaro in Australia and a Chevy SS in South Africa. Is a Chevrolet Opala out there but was sold as an Opel Rekord C over here. produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-158549004-opala-comodoro-coupe-4cc-alcool-2dono-impecavel-67700km-_JM
