I know there's a few ol' fogies on here ( )but any of the younger generation ever wondered how young British guys got on messing with cars etc in the '60s? Here's a link to a story recently written by a family friend for the Elva.com website. www.elva.com/news/20101002-twochitties.php

Cheers Seth, just skimmed it but I'll be going back.
There are some amazing stories from back then. I've got Alan Clark's book 'Back Fire' which is chock full of good stuff. That book makes you wonder if you had to be rich but then my old man reminisces about his time at college in the late 60's and they were having just as much fun. Helps they were all training to be Metalwork teachers I suppose so were pretty resourceful!

Great story. First thing I recognised was 177 MPH and an older looking Seth with a beard tweaking the bike. Looking forward to a better read tomorrow

Great story. First thing I recognised was 177 MPH and an older looking Seth with a beard tweaking the bike. Ah yes, read it now and all became clear at the Postscript! Very cool. ;D EDIT: For spelling and also now forwarded to my old man so he can spark some memories - later in the same decade he was also tooling around on british bikes and learning to drive in mates' cars . . . though not till 21. Old dear's from Croydon too . . .

He'd have been early twenties in that picture. So a younger looking me but a long time ago. Or something.

Good to see the response to the article written by Jerry ... always hungry for additions to the story. The red Courier based in Cornwall has been in the long-term ownership of Jerry Trace who has campaigned the car to great effect since the very early Sixties. These Couriers were not built by Trojan but by Elva Cars, then based at Sedlescombe Road North in Hastings.
