This is all awesome, sounds like there's a few people on here who had top Dads. And that number plate is brilliant! My Dad's never been like that though, so I've no idea where I got it from.

Excellent picture, makes a nice tribute. My Dad's in is 60's and still tinkering with cars on a daily basis, it's all his fault that me and my brother are obsessed with old VW's!

I have vivid memories of my dad lapping the valves in on his Rover P6 2200 TC in the sun lounge we had at the back of our house. I think that's the first time I ever really got interested in cars, I must have been about 8 years old. God, that's 19 years ago ;D

Hey, Once again thanks for all your comments and its re-assuring to know that there are others out there in the same boat. I've done some digging around and found this pic of my A35 (first car) and that's my dads Vitesse across the street. It was quite heavily tuned and when the original engine went bang in a big way it was re-built to about 3.6, piper 285 cam, ported heads, tube headers, straight through-ish exhaust and played with injection (single plenum). Dyno'd at somewhere like 270hp which wasn't far off what the Group A saloon cars got with their twin plenum set-ups - so it went well! Suspension was all uprated too. Best memory of it is coming back from Santa Pod once when I was 16 I guess and racing down to the M1 with a Cosworth and a very rapid 100E!

That photo would have been taken in late '93 or early '94 as I finshed my A levels in 93 and got the Austin so I could go to work during my year off. I've got plenty of pics of it but none digitaly. Will scan them at some point and post them up.
