I've heard Mitsubishi Starion engines will go straight into RWD pony's... the problem really is finding one. My friend had a '82 Mk1 Pony from his grandfather a couple of years back and I that thing must have been one of less than a handful on Dutch roads at that time. He sold it to a Dutch drifter & Hyundai mechanic who has a topic about them somewhere on the AEU86.org forum. I think they were also mentioned in the Practical Classics Monthly section on almost exinct cars at some point. Not sure about the pick-ups, I doubt many have been sold in the Netherlands but this may be different in the UK?

Get it done! As RatDat says, a trifle rare these days. It's one of those cars that falls into the 'potential' category without too much thought.
What colour is the one you've spotted?

What color is the one you've spotted? same as the one i lowered(in shop!)above.. been to have a closer look at it this morning. bit of rust in couple of places, but nothing a bit of TLC would sort.. but its solid enough where it matters trying to work out the PCD of them.. PCD database says 4x114.. but it looks smaller than that.. one only the net i found has 4x108 on it?? would be nice if it was this??!

4x108 stud patern, i had one with sierra steels on it, dark metalic green over yellow which did look good, i bought it as a rolling shell but it did have a fiat twin cam, then a rover v8. Older hyundi's used a lot of ford parts.

They are indeed 4x108. Mechanically they seem to be a combo for Ford brakes and Mitsubishi everything else. Mine's a 1600 with a 5 speed now so it goes much better than the stock 1200. I'm not doing anything with it so if anyone fancies a project (needs sills and rear arches doing and a couple of other bits of welding and a rad) they can take it on for £90 as is. Picture is rather flattering TBH. It's tatty but do-able... It's on Escort Sport steels but I have some slot mags (7x13 and 8x13) for it too but they'd be extra. I'd love to do something with it but alas too many projects on the go means it's going to sit around for ever.
