For sale is a Toyota MK1 MR2 along with quite a lot of spare body panels.
I bought this car as a project but unfortunately another car and relocation forces me to sell this particular project. While I had the car I did use it as a daily run about and it was fantastic. The engine was responsive and really pokey for a 1.6, it held the road really well and is really well balanced.
Unfortunately while it was being used it developed an electrical fault. The problem I was having was a revvy idle. It would not idle at a fixed rev point, the revs would fluctuate. I spoke to an auto electrician who had a look and told me it was a suspect throttle body. During the tow back to mine the radiator got a little bit damaged so that will need replacing as well as the alternator.
I purchased the car about a year ago and have collected bits and pieces over the last year. The body work needs attention but I have all the parts needed. The front bumper is dented / scratched (I have another bumper to put on), the near side front wing is rusted (have another one to put on, or can be cut and welded, and the nearside front wing is rusted / damaged (again have wing to replace it with).
I also have spare front lights with motors, engine bay lid, bonnet, boot lid, carpet, passenger door with wing mirror (but missing glass) I may have other parts not really sure to be honest. I got some bits with the car and other bits I have sourced.
The car itself is the t-bar model with 15” alloy wheels (not standard), 1 wheel has a nearly new tire and the other 3 are reasonable. I also have a pair of ‘MR2’ rear mud flaps which are also fairly rare.
The t-bars comes with the sun shades (which are rare and hard to get hold of) I also have a spare seal which I was going to fit but didn’t get round to it. I don’t think the one in there leaks but I’m not sure. Didn’t really take it out much in the rain, and I tried to cover it as much as possible as other car was in garage. MR2 is now currently garaged.
The electric windows work each side and there is also remote central locking / alarm for the driver’s door installed. The electrical mirrors work still as well, which surprised me for a car that is 20 + years old.
Boot opens from the key but not from inside, maybe a cable is loose or disconnected…
The interior is not the original leather but a really Dark-Blue and Red pair of seats (with a rip in the back of the passengers) with Black cloth door cards and the standard black dash. Installed is a red and black racing style steering wheel.
I moved to Milton Keynes for work and the car is currently not here with me. The car is stored in my parent’s garage in King’s Lynn and you can pm me or reply to organise a viewing.
I am only selling this car as it not near me and I can’t do the work myself, as well as me having another project car and now work commitments as well. I don’t have the time or space to break it for spares, It is worth the money even for spares and has plenty of good bits on it, if you do what to break it.
I have really enjoyed owning and driving this car and really don’t want to get rid of it by my parents what their garage back and as I said it’s too far away for me to repair it.
