Howdy folks.
Having a really annoying problem lately with my 2.25 diesel Series 3 Landy.
After having it off the road for 5 months due to gearbox issues I only started using it regularly in about mid June after crashing my Renault 19.
Anyway, straight away I noticed it seemed to have become totally gutless and was absolutely wasting diesel,at least to what I remember from when it was my daily about a year earlier.
I did nothing to the engine except service it.
ANyway,I asked a mechanic mate of mine about it and he said it was probably due to my driving style.I tend to avoid revving it very high and rarely go above 30 mph.I also have a very bad habit of lugging it about in too high a gear, but I'm making a conscious effort to stop that.
It has a standard gearbox and diffs and feels quite low geared but it will not stand fourth for long on one particular hill I have to negotiate every day on my way back home.I have tried revving it up a lot in 3rd and shifting into top as fast as I can but it still dies as soon as I grab top gear. It also smokes a lot.Black unburnt diesel smoke that is. I'll try to get a video tomorrow.Feels normal on the flat though. However I don't have anything to compare it against as I've never driven/ridden in any other Landys
Am I doing something wrong or is my engine to blame? Diesel pump to blame or maybe a duff injector?Starts on the button and sounds normal if a bit tappety, though it does knock a bit for the first few seconds after a cold start
If any of the above makes sense, I'd really appreciate any help as it's driving me crazy!
Many thanks lads!
