Hi guys: quick question.
I've got a 1964 Benz Heckflosse which needs to be welded, and then partially painted. It's the same model and strangely the same exact tone of hearing aid beige as this one.
Only the old paint has turned white and powdery due to the sun. It will buff up nicely though.
My question is: i need to partially respray some areas, and fade the new paint into the original paint.
Should I cut and polish the old paint before laying on the new layers (and then when it's dried properly cut and polish the whole lot again), or will this contaminate the surface and ruin the paint?
Or just gently flat back the whole panel, put on the new layer, and then polish the lot?
As my thanks here's a pic of one being used in anger
