Anyone ever had any issues tipping 2 tins of 2k topcoat together to make one colour? I bought a sh!t ton of "dark grey" off ebay, and it's a bit darker than I wanted. I've bought a litre of white to tip into it to lighten it up a little. I know it's not something you should really do, but it's not likely to react is it?
When I asked the bloke at the paint shop he said "I wouldn't do it" but obviously he's motivated by wanting to sell me another £100 worth of custom mixed grey paint!
The ebay paint could be any old brand - it was £55 for 5 litres and 2 litres of hardener, and the white is Jawel. I used my laser nose and they smell the same, which was good enough for me to decide they would be fine.
As long as it's "probably" going to be OK then I'm fine with that. I'm spraying it myself in a mates workshop so there isn't really a £1000 labour cost or anything, and I don't expect it to turn out like a Chip Foose job!
I'm not really bothered about not being able to match it if I need to repair it - I have enough to do the whole car about 3 times, so I can always save some!
