I thought I'd fill you in on our '96 XJ Sport, as it might be a bit of an inspiration to people on here who (like I have in the past) lost the mojo.
Don't, and here's why:
Last August I put the XJ in for its MoT test and it failed. BIGTIME. Turns out most of the floor, plus the front shock towers, were rotten to the core.
Major headache, plus an irate missus who knew she'd have to get back in the Nippa. But not only did the Jag need major welding, my work had shrunk by 50 percent or so. (don't let anyone tell you being a freelance motoring writer is beer 'n' skittles all the way - it ain't). Combine that with the £60k we lost to a builder and you can see why I lost the plot totally.
Anyway, got the car back from the welder this April, and then there was another month of trying to get a replacement exhaust system too. No major supplier stocks the one we need. Luckily work was turning around and last week the blue boat returned with a fresh MoT last weekend.
So even if you're suffering lost mojo, there is a light at the end of the tunnel - even if it's along time coming....
