Great people + great cars + great craic = great weekend.
Not as many pics as usual partially because the service area was separated from the action by a fairly hefty fence, but mainly because all the plans we made to marshal etc etc were forgotten about as soon as we arrived at Abingdon and met up with so many friends. Friday night and all day Saturday turned into one gigantic pi**-up instead.
The weapon. Ran virtually faultlessly all day yesterday, out of 100 starters the boys finished 27th overall...a result that would have been bettered had it not been for a spin/stall on SS4 and being penalised for being late out of Service after having to partially-rebuild a rear shocker. Were it not for those two mishaps they'd have been sitting on the fringes of a Top Ten finish.
The only casualty all day was a front headlight lens. It's taken a while to develop it but it's now a strong, reliable fundamentally-sorted motor. Plans are afoot for the winter involving a complete stripdown and seam-weld the shell now, as it's had five hard seasons and is beginning to show it.
See what I mean about the fence? I like this shot, though.
Anyway here are some of the other pics I did manage to take. I make no apologies for the shonkiness of some of them as I was much too busy tipping various ales down my face to care. ;D
Next on the agenda is a day out marshalling on the Corinium Stages at Down Ampney on June 26th, and the next outings for the Sunbeam will be on the Azimghur Stages at R.A.F. Colerne in Wiltshire on July 17th, and the Fat Albert Stages at Keevil (another Wiltshire airfield) on July 31st.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that we carried full camera equipment on every stage from ICS Services. In-car videos will be available as soon as we've reviewed the DVD's and edited the swearing out. ;D
